Caernarfon make ex-Oldham defender Pearson first summer signing – also news on friendlies and admission costs

One of the finest defenders to feature in the Welsh Premier League in recent seasons has joined Caernarfon Town.
Mike Pearson has become the Canaries’ first signing of the summer as he lands at The Oval from Llandudno.
An experienced centre-half, Bangor-born Pearson, 31, began his career with Oldham Athletic.
He went through the Latics’ youth system and made several appearances for the reserve team before being promoted to the firsts.
Pearson made his first-team debut against Millwall in a 2-1 loss on February 17, 2007, and managed just one further appearance before being released at the end of 2007/08, having also been on loan at Farsley Celtic.
The defender joined Conference National team Barrow, where he was to spend the next five years, playing in 151 games. They included an FA Cup tie against Premier League Middlesbrough in 2008/09, where Pearson suffered a double leg break in a challenge with Marvin Emnes. The Welshman recovered well and remained with the Bluebirds until they were relegated in 2012/13.
Pearson began his Welsh Premier tenure with Airbus UK Broughton in 2013/14, going on to spend three seasons at the Hollingsworth Group Stadium and appearing 84 times for the Wingmakers.
In 2016/17, Pearson moved to Connah’s Quay Nomads, making his debut in a tremendous 1-0 Europa League win over HJK Helsinki of Finland.
Twice named in the Welsh Premier League team of the season, the Wales C, under-15 and U-16 international endured a difficult 2018-19 campaign at relegated Llandudno.
Pearson is excited at the prospect of joining the Cofis, his fourth WPL club.

He said: “Once I got the call from Sean (Eardley) it was a no-brainer for me really. I’ve known Sean since we were young boys, the side had a great year last time around and I’m hoping I can add something to the squad. I know a few of the boys here, and I’m looking forward to meeting everyone else and excited to getting going.”
Assistant-manager Eardley sees the big defender as an ideal fit for the club.
“Mike’s a leader, and will bring a wealth of experience to the club, and is someone I can hang my hat on,” said Eardley. “I said last season that there are a few guys, like Jamie Breese up top, Gaz Evans and Gaz Edwards, lads that I can look to in difficult situations and Mike is certainly that type of player. I’m really looking forward to seeing how he gels with the team.”

Admission prices stay the same

Admission prices for all first team matches at The Oval will be unchanged for the 2019/20 season. Therefore, prices are fixed at £7 for adults, £2 for under 18’s and concessions will be £5.
Season tickets will rise by £2 for adults to £100, whilst concessions remain at £70 and under 18’s go up to £20. Season tickets will include admission to all home friendlies and Welsh Premier League matches only.
