Striker Jamie Breese says farewell to Caernarfon Town

Jamie Breese has announced he is leaving Caernarfon Town

Caernarfon Town striker Jamie Breese has announced on social media he is leaving the club.

The 28-year-old has been at The Oval for the past five seasons, netting 98 goals in 170 appearances.

Breese joined the Canaries in summer 2015, having been Cymru Alliance player of the season and league top-scorer the campaign before at Llanidloes Town.

He was an instant hit with the Cofis, topping the club scoring chart three seasons in a row, bagging 32 in 2015/16, plus 27 in both 2016/17 and 2017/18.

In two of those seasons, Caernarfon won the Cymru Alliance, the latter success securing them a return to the Cymru Premier after a 10-year absence.

While Breese’s net-finding record in the top flight has not been as prolific he has still been a key player as Town have secured back-to-back top six finishes.

In an emotional message on social media, Breese said it had been an “unbelievable five years” with the Canaries.

“The decision hasn’t been easy by all means,” he added. “The place has become like a second home to me and walking away from such a special place is very tough.

“With everything that has happened in the past few months, it wasn’t the way I wanted to end my time with the club, but the 170-mile round trip of travelling in the end has taken its toll and things outside of football sometimes have to take priority.

“There are so many good memories I can take away, from winning the (Cymru Alliance) league twice and also the two games against Bangor is something I will never forget.

“I’ve made some great friends throughout the club in team mates, coaching staff, board members and even supporters.”

And in a special message to the fans, Breese added: “You have been an unbelievable part of my time at the club.

“Your passion for the club is something else and having my own song sung is something I will never forget. It’s something I will really miss.”

Breese is one of five players to have departed The Oval so far this summer, following Alex Ramsay, Gareth Evans, Jamie Crowther and Mike Pearson.

To date, the club has signed goalkeeper Josh Tibbetts and striker Cory Williams.

The other big change at the club has been the decision of Sean Eardley to leave after almost three successful seasons and take over at Llandudno.

Huw Griffiths is now the first team manager, the ex-Cefn Druids boss having switched to the Cofis last season.
