LDCC: Dulshan takes eight for Bay, another five for Hall’s Jenkins, Prestatyn edge low-scorer

1ST XI FIRST DIVISION
Maghull (4) 76-10 Northop Hall (24) 198-8 dec
An eighth five-wicket haul of the season from Paul Jenkins helped Northop Hall pull off a very impressive win at Maghull.
The left-arm spinner is now up to 75 league victims in 2026 and remains well on course to beat last year’s total of 96.
Put into bat, Hall set 198-8 declared off 55 overs, Carwyn Johnson posting 50 and James Hurlin 37.
In reply, the Liverpudlians were blown away for 76, Jenkins taking 5-34 off 13.4, Johnson 3-34 and Hurlin 2-7.
Sutton (St Helens) (5) 215-10 Colwyn Bay (25) 222-3 dec
Shashika Dulshan turned in a golden spell of 8-44 as second-place Bay triumphed by just seven runs at The New Street Oval.
Sri Lankan slow left-armer Dulshan, Bay’s first XI overseas pro this season, produced by far his best figures since joining the North Wales club this summer.
Bay were put into bat and amassed a useful 222-3 declared off 55, opener Dan Russell making his best league score for the firsts of 100 not out, hitting 13 fours.
Will Higginson added 49 not out and Matthew Thompson 48. Russell put on 106 for the third wicket with Thompson, who then joined Higginson in an unbroken stand of 85 for the fourth.
Sutton gave it a great go in reply, recovering from 76-5 to make 215 before the last batsman was dismissed, Adam Onion making a dangerous 87 before Jack Parry bowled him.
1ST XI SECOND DIVISION
Caldy (3) 85-10 Prestatyn (25) 89-6
Three-man attack Kieran New, Ben Hughes and Adam Tidswell combined to dismiss hosts Caldy for a low score before Prestatyn went on to win the match, albeit with a few batting alarms of their own along the way.
The Wirralians decided to bat first and were blasted out for just 85, New pocketing 4-44, Hughes 3-18 and Tidswell 3-20.
Prestatyn lost Andy Taylor to the first ball of their reply before Ryan Westwell (34) and Daniel Williams (33) put on a reassuring 56 for the second wicket.
Nonetheless the visitors were six down before getting to 89-6, Adam Brown 5-21 for Caldy.
2ND XI PREMIER DIVISION
Colwyn Bay II (9) 209-7 dec Wigan II (8) 208-8
A nail-biter at Penrhyn Avenue where Bay came within two wickets of victory, while Wigan needed just another two runs to claim the win themselves.
Put into bat, the hosts made 209-7 declared, skipper and opener Tom Roberts hitting a brilliant 96 and Shaun Davies 58.
In reply, Wigan ended on 208-8, Jamie Moorhouse 4-42 and Davies 2-29.
2ND XI SECOND DIVISION
Northop Hall II (25) 89-3 St Helens Town II (2) 84-10
Matthew Edwards claimed brilliant figures of 6-33 as leaders Northop Hall seconds skittled out their visitors for just 84.
Edwards was well supported by James Southern (2-12) and Harley Pritchard (2-19). then Hall got home on 89-3 after an early collapse saw them 9-3, Pritchard completing a good match with 48 not out.
Prestatyn II (4) 107-10 Sutton (St Helens) II (25) 110-5
Electing to bat, Prestatyn seconds could only muster 107 all out, Michael Bona 38, Alex Oldfield 6-32 for Sutton, who then reached a winning 110-5, Mark Sheridan 2-6.
