North Wales Cricket Premier: Brymbo end Saints unbeaten record, Northop’s Singh hits double ton

St Asaph 1st XI (7) 186-10 Brymbo 1st XI (18) 306-8

The Premier Division title race became red-hot after Brymbo handed a first defeat of the season to leaders St Asaph and moved to within a point of their opponents.
Put into bat, the Steelmen piled up 306-8 off 50 overs, helped by an opening stand of 124 between Chris Taylor and Sam Aplin.
Aplin went for 35, but Taylor carried on to make 96 off just 59 balls, hitting 11 fours and five sixes.
Dikshant Vairagi added 55, and a number of other useful scores helped Brymbo set a mammoth 306-8 off 50 overs.
After Saints openers Kyle Williams and Evan Williams fell to Dan Parry with just eight on the board, Asaph were seriously up against it.
Mathew Ryan (77) and William Norman (47) put on 76 for the third wicket, but from there the hosts were never at the races and ended up 186 all out.
Vairagi claimed 3-28, Aplin 2-18, Richard Deniz 2-22 and Parry 2-29, Brymbo winning by 120 runs and 18-7 on points.

Bangor 1st XI (18) 212-10 Mold 1st XI (5) 52-10

Francois Mostert claimed a stunning 6-14 as Bangor boosted their hopes of avoiding the drop with a crucial victory over Mold at Ty Newydd.
The Citizens won the toss and elected to bat, but found themselves in all sorts of early trouble at 29-4.
It needed a captain’s knock of 65 from Robbie Marshall to steady the ship, with a useful 39 via Smit Parekh helping the hosts post 212 all out.
For the visitors, Ian Noonan scooped 3-41, Thomas North 2-16 and Munowar Samsodien 2-29.
Mostert then wreaked havoc as Mold collapsed to 52 all out, Parekh providing fine support with 2-11 and Joe Maltby 2-14 as Bangor bagged the points 18-5.

Gwersyllt Park 1st XI (6) 270-8 Northop 1st XI (18) 371-3

Ikjot Singh Thind hit a remarkable 215 not out as Northop amassed a huge winning score at Gwersyllt.
Thind hit 32 fours and four sixes in his 148-ball effort, putting together a massive opening stand of 235 with Elliott Colclough (79).
Sion Morris added 42 as the visitors finished their 50 overs on 371-3, Kastun Stoute 2-55 for the hosts.
In reply, Gwersyllt gave it a good go in reaching 270-8, but the task of making 372 for victory was always destined to be a bridge way too far.
Skipper Jamie Griffiths, batting at eight, made an excellent 80 not out, while openers Stoute (51) and Iroshan De Silva (32) put on 77.
On a day for batsmen, Northop’s Morris and Colclough both collected 2-40.

Mochdre 1st XI (18) 186-1 Hawarden Park 1st XI (3) 183-10

Will Evans cracked 107 not out from just 96 balls as Mochdre romped to a nine-wicket home success against bottom side Hawarden.
Invited to bat, Park were all out for 183, opener Jacob Duker a fine 91 which included 11 fours and two sixes, Adam Campion grabbing 4-19, Gareth Goodson 3-40 and Owen Davies 2-52 for the hosts.
Evans and Matty Humphreys (49) formed an opening partnership of 157 as the hosts raced to 186-1 off just 24.5 overs.

Menai Bridge 1st XI (18) 222-5 Denbigh 1st XI (6) 221-8

Denbigh’s Andy Clarke and Jack Gower of the Bridge both scored hundreds in a match which went the way of the Anglesey-based hosts.
The visitors won the toss and batted, chalking up 221-8 off 50, Clarke hitting a career best 112 not out including 13 fours, Shaun Nash adding 41 and Harrison Jones 32.
Clarke put on 84 for the third wicket with Jones and 76 for the next alongside Nash.
Matthew Jones snared 4-48 and Dion Holden 2-25 for the hosts.
Gower then struck 107 – 11 fours and two sixes – with Holden adding 37 as the islanders reached a winning 222-5 off 46.5. Stuart Griffiths 2-17 and Joe Lewis 2-40 for Denbigh.
