Welsh Cup North semi-finals: Hall defeat Bay to set up final with run machines Brymbo

It will be Northop Hall versus Brymbo in the Welsh Cup North Zone Final.

Both won their respective semi-finals on Sunday afternoon.

Northop Hall won by 38 runs

Jac Kennedy’s unbeaten century did most to ensure Northop Hall won the battle of the Liverpool Competition First Division North Wales clubs.

Kennedy hit 14 boundaries in his 103 not out as the home side set 195-4 off 40 overs after being put into bat at Smithy Lane.

Captain James Hurlin added an unbeaten 56 for the hosts, Charlie Collins grabbing an excellent 2-18 off eight for the visitors.

In reply, Bay were bowled out for 157 off 38.3, skipper George Johansen best with 51, Will Higginson adding 32, while for Hall, James Southern notched 3-16, Carwyn Johnson 2-30 and Hurlin 2-42, Paul Jenkins returning a very accurate 1-7 off eight.

Denbigh 230-4 Brymbo 232-0
Brymbo won by 10 wickets

Christopher Taylor continued his weekend heroics with an unbeaten ton as Brymbo raced to 232 without loss off just 21.3 overs to claim a remarkable win at Ystrad Road.

Put into bat, Denbigh must have felt convinced they had given themselves a victory chance after chalking up 230-4 off 40 overs.

Skipper Harrison Jones was a batting hero for the hosts, scoring 108 and putting on an opening stand of 160 with Finlay Rooke-Hart (38)

Dikshant Vairagi took 2-54 for Brymbo, who looked to have a fight on their hands to claim the victory.

However. Taylor and Vairagi proved unstoppable, putting on that double-ton stand with just in excess of half the allotted overs used.

Already a double match-winner in Saturday’s T20 clashes with bat and ball, Taylor posted 112 not out off 71 balls, striking 13 boundaries and six sixes, while Vairagi ended 92 no from 58 – 11 fours and six maximums.
