North Wales T20 League: Nine wins out of nine Mochdre lead way, first victory for Hawarden Park

Mochdre are the team to beat in the North Wales T20 League after completing a ninth straight victory on Saturday.

Wins over highly-rated Menai Bridge and St Asaph in quick succession have really put the boys from Blackmarsh Road in the driving seat,

Bangor 1st XI (3) 145-6 Denbigh 1st XI (0) 144-5

Cian Williams’ crucial knock of 58 did most to ensure Bangor claimed victory over visitors Denbigh.

The away side won the toss and batted, setting 144-5, Shaun Nash 50 not out and skipper Harrison Jones 36, Gareth Edwards 2-17 for the hosts who hit back with 145-6 off 19.5.

Williams’ half-ton was well supported by Smit Parekh (30), Sam Lewis 2-26 for the losing team.

Brymbo 1st XI (3) 124-1 Hawarden Park 1st XI (0) 121-4

Dikshant Vairagi smashed a stunning 92 off just 36 balls, hitting 17 fours and three sixes as Brymbo raced to victory over Hawarden.
Park chose to bat and posted 121-4 off their 20 overs, Jacob Duker 47, Vairagi 2-27 for the Steelmen, who then reached 124-1 from 10.4, their Indian left-hander in total command.

Gwersyllt Park 1st XI (0) 126-8 Northop 1st XI (3) 200-3

Captain Bart Ryan-Beswick hit 96 off 43 balls – including nine fours and seven sixes – as Northop set a winning total at Gwersyllt.
Ikjot Thind added 63 not out in the away score of 200-3 off 20 overs, Jack Billington picking up 2-23 for Park, who were limited to 126-8, skipper Jamie Griffiths 69, Thind 3-14 and Elliot Colclough 2-28 for the Flintshire men.

Menai Bridge 1st XI (3) 164-3 Mold 1st XI (0) 163-5

In-form Dion Holden led the way with an unbeaten 63 not out in Menai Bridge’s home triumph over Mold.
Electing to bat, the visitors chalked up 163-5 off 20, Louis Boulton the star performer with 88 off 57 deliveries with eight boundaries and five maximums, Matthew Jones 2-38 for Bridge.
The Anglesey side comfortably got to 164-3 from 14,5. Ayush Verma adding 38 to the Holden half-century, Munowar Samsodien a brilliant 3-12 off four for the away team.

Mochdre 1st XI (3) 167-4 St Asaph 1st XI (0) 166-3

In a battle of Premier heavyweights, Mochdre hammered their way to victory with four balls to spare.
Opting for first knock, Saints rattled up 166-3 from 20, Mathew Ryan 72 and Kyle Williams 56, Adam Campion 2-28 for Mochdre, who hit back with 167-4 off 19.2, Will Evans 72 from 66 deliveries, striking six fours and three sixes.

Bangor 1st XI (0) 138-2 St Asaph 1st XI (3) 173-2

Kyle Williams cracked 101 not out off 56 balls – including 12 fours and two sixes – in St Asaph’s victory over Bangor.
Put into bat, Asaph set 173-2 off 20, Williams sharing in an opening stand of 132 with Will Norman (57).
Bangor could only muster 138-2 in reply, skipper Robert Marshall (51 no) and Francois Mostert (44 no) putting on an unbroken 106 for the third wicket, Joe Norman 2-12 odd three.

Brymbo 1st XI (3) 158-4 Northop 1st XI (0) 157-5

Elliot Colclough’s 75 helped Northop pose a challenging 157-5 at the SSC, Daniel Parry scooping 3-31 for Brymbo, who responded with a winning 158-4 off 17.2, Christopher Taylor 48, Dikshant Vairagi 43 and Connor Davies 36 no, Sion Morris 2-25 and Bart Ryan-Beswick 2-30 for the visitors.

Gwersyllt Park 1st XI (0) 113-6 Hawarden Park 1st XI (3) 122-8

A welcome first T20 win of the summer for Hawarden Park.
The visitors won the toss, batted, and scored 122-8, James James bagging the day’s best return of 5-14 for Gwersyllt, who were then limited to 113-6, Jamie Griffiths 58, Ian Martin an outstanding 3-11 and Jac Williams 2-26 for the winners.

THURSDAY, JULY 2

Menai Bridge (0) 117-10 Mochdre (3) 119-5

Owen Davies’s fine spell of 4-17 off four overs helped leaders Mochdre mark up another win on Thursday night.
Bridge called the coin correctly and batted, but failed to see out their 20 overs, being bowled out for 117 off 18.2, Gethin Roberts 44, Joe Chaplin (2-10) and James French (2-20) adding to Owen Davies’ great effort.
Mochdre made it to 119-5 from 15.1, Chaplin 32, Adam Campion 30, Ashley Wood 2-12 and Patrick Glover 2-27 for the islanders.
