Italian coach takes on task of getting relegated FC Mountain back up the pyramid

You soon will do, as the Italian is the new head coach of Tier 4 Welsh club FC Mountain.

UEFA B Licence holder Muci, 43, was previously manager of French club Quimper Italia and in Italy, Serie D’s US Castrovillari Calcio. Most recently he was head of academy at level seven Italian outfit SSD Trepuzzi.

Muci has been brought to Mountain by technical sporting director Max Leghissa, former director of football at Bangor City.

In a brief message on social media, Muci spoke of his keenness to get started on the mission of lifting Mountain back up the pyramid.

Formerly known as Flint Mountain, the North Wales club avoided the drop from the Tier 2 Cymru North last season, but ran into difficulties and after talks with the FAW, the governing body decided the club would plummet two levels after a supposed ‘elective relegation’ request was granted.

Mountain has insisted it never asked to be relegated two leagues and announced last week it had appealed against the relegation decision.

However, FAW regulations state the club is not permitted to appeal in such circumstances.

The actual appeal currently in abeyance is reportedly against a punishment imposed on Mountain of a £7,500 fine – the consequence of ‘elective relegation’.

This appeal is yet to be heard.

In the meantime, Ruthin Town, who survived in Cymru North as a result of Mountain’s relegation, are included in this week’s 2026-27 fixtures for the Tier 2 league.

Connah’s Quay Town and Kerry will also remain in Tier 3 due to Mountain’s downfall. Mountain were originally earmarked to compete in the North East Wales League in 2026-27, but that situation remains unclear.
