Flint Mountain Football Club – now renamed FC Mountain – have appointed a new chief who may have a familiar name to North Wales football followers.
Italian Max Leghissa has been named this evening as FC Mountain’s technical sporting director.
The 61-year-old was appointed director of football with the former Bangor City in May 2019, but left the club five months later.
Before his short stint at Bangor, Leghissa had four years at the AC Milan academy, before working with Udinese. He also held roles at Casarano, Mezzocorona, Pordenone and Syrianska.
Leghissa also previously worked with ex-Bangor City boss Stephen Vaughan Jnr at Maltese Premier Division outfit Mosta.
FC Mountain released the following statement: “FC Mountain are proud to appoint Max Leghissa as Technical Sporting Director.
“Max joins us to help rebuild the club, and has previously had spells with Udinese Calcio in Serie A, as sporting director at Maltese Premier League club Mosta and most recently in Bangor as Technical Director.
“Max will work closely with the chairman and manager to allow players to flourish and develop in the Welsh system.”
Yesterday, it was announced Flint Mountain had dropped out of the Tier 2 JD Cymru North League.
The FAW reported Mountain’s request for ‘elective relegation’ from Tier 2 has been granted and Ruthin Town, relegated to Tier 3 at the end of 2025-26, will stay up in their place.
The news also means a relegation reprieve for Tier 3 clubs Kerry (Ardal North East) and Connah’s Quay Town (Ardal North West).
Mountain has been placed into Tier 4, but the newly-named club has said it is yet to be decided which league they will play in, this being dependent on where their home ground will be.
The club added: “Following the release of an FAW statement today, the club will be making no further comment at this time.
“It has not yet been confirmed which Tier 4 league we will be playing in for the 26/27 season.
“As of today, we will be known as FC Mountain.”
