North Wales Premier: Evan’s above! Williams hits century as leaders Saints win again, Boulton ton sinks Northop

NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS – JUNE 20

St Asaph 1st XI (18) 383-7 Hawarden Park 1st XI (3) 115-10

Evan Williams struck a career best 135 as St Asaph piled on the runs and moved nine points clear at the Premier peak.
It was a second league ton of the summer for wicket-keeper and opener Williams, who joined Saints at the start of the season.
The home side won the toss and opted to bat, amassing 383-7 off 50 overs, Evan Williams putting on 199 for the second wicket with Matty Ryan (77).
Williams’ 135 came off 120 balls and included 17 fours and two sixes, Ryan’s effort featuring nine boundaries.
Dan Evans added 38 and Joe Norman 33, while for Hawarden’s toiling attack Campbell Marr picked up 2-65 and Evan Shaw 2-72.
In reply, Park were blown away for just 115 in 24 overs, Robbie Prior collecting career-finest figures of 5-27.

Bangor 1st XI (18) 186-10 Denbigh 1st XI (6) 146-10

Champions Bangor enjoyed a morale-boosting 40-run victory at home to high-flying Denbigh at Ty Newydd.
Winning the toss and batting, the Citizens chalked up 186 all out off 48.3, Francois Mostert topping the chart with 40.
Shaun Nash scooped 3-28 and Sam Lewis 3-37 for the visitors, who must have been reasonably coifndent they could pass the home total.
However, Bangor bowled and fielded well, removing their opponents for 146, Smit Parekh nabbing 3-25, Mostert 2-18 and Joe Maltby 2-31 for the winners, Ieuan Jones 41 for the travelling side.

Gwersyllt Park 1st XI (18) 216-8 Mochdre 1st XI (4) 124-10

Opener Iroshan De Silva led the way with 70 as Gwersyllt Park swept aside the might of Mochdre.
De Silva put on 76 for the first wicket with Kastun Stoute (36) to give the Wrexham area hosts a solid foundation after they chose to take first knock.
Captain Jamie Griffiths then struck 53 in the middle order to help ensure Park set a decent total. Gareth Goodson notched 2-40, James French 2-41 and Owen Davies 2-55 for the visitors.
Mochdre were then sent packing for just 124, Joe Chaplin 41, while there were a trio of three-wicket heroes for the home team.
Stoute snapped up 3-10, Jack Billington 3-45 and Cai Pwarson 3-49 to seal an 18-4 points verdict.

Menai Bridge 1st XI (18) 259-10 Brymbo 1st XI (7) 172-10

The battle of the heavy scorers went Menai Bridge’s way.
Star turn for the islanders was Dion Holden, who recorded the 13th century of his career in North Wales, hitting 118 as Bridge were bowled out for 259 in the final over.
Menai were under pressure on 106-5 at one stage, but led by Holden recovered to post a formidable 250+ target.
Holden’s innings included 13 fours and four sixes, opener Jack Gower contributing 41.
A seventh-wicket stand of 78 between Holden and skipper Robbie Jones (29) turned an ordinary looking effort from the Anglesey team into a good one. Holden was last out.
For Brymbo, Daniel Parry took 3-41, James Claybrook 2-41 and Chris Taylor 2-45.
The Steelmen are usually capable of accumulating any total, but on this day they were dismissed for 172.
Number 10 Jack Williams struck 35 and Connor Davies 33. The visitors were in all sorts of bother on 66-6 at one point.
Patrick Glover took 3-38, Ayush Verma 2-19, Holden 2-36 and Ashley Wood 2-45.

Northop 1st XI (6) 209-9 Mold 1st XI (18) 210-4

Youngster Louis Boulton’s maiden first team century guided Mold to a fantastic six-wicket success at Flint Road.
Northop chose to bat and were indebted to opener Elliot Colclough for a fine knock of 97 as the hosts produced a total of 209-9 off 50.
Munowar Samsodien came up with the best bowling figures of 3-40 for the visitors, Thomas North capturing 2-18.

Boulton plays another quality shot


In response, Mold reached 210-4 off 46.2 overs, Boulton shining brightest with 100 not out exactly, registering nine boundaries and three maximums.
David Graham added a useful 30, while Sion Morris claimed 2-35 for a Northop team which lost for the fifth time in eight starts.
