Two top quality signings for the 2026-27 season have been announced by Prestatyn Town.

Returning to the Seasiders is familiar face and iconic defender Tom Kemp, while also landing at Bastion Gardens is the experienced and talented Calyn Spencer.

Both men are past winners of the Ardal North West title – the league Prestatyn will operate in during 2026-27.

Tom Kemp

Kemp, 31, was with Everton as a youngster before first signing for Prestatyn Town aged 17 in 2012.

He went on to make the bench for both of Town’s 2013-14 Europa League first qualifying round games against Latvia’s Liepajas Metalurgs, the Welsh Premier side winning the tie on penalties. Kemp then twice came on as a substitute in the second qualifying round clashes with HNK Rijeka of Croatia.

In 2016-17, Kemp was part of the Prestatyn Town squad which lifted the Cymru Alliance championship.

He represented the Seasiders in the Welsh Premier before switching to Flint Town United in 2018-19.

Kemp celebrated promotion to the top-flight with the Essity Stadium club the following campaign. He made 74 first team appearances in all for Flint before deciding to drop three levels to join Prestatyn Sports in 2021-22.

The following season he made the switch to ambitious Tier 5 newcomers NFA, staying with the club until January 2023, when he signed for CPD Y Rhyl 1879.

Kemp returned to NFA at the start of 2023-24, but by January of that season he was back with Prestatyn Town, helping the Seasiders survive in Cymru North.

The start of 2024-25 saw Kemp begin a two-season stay at CPD Y Rhyl 1879, scoring twice on his second debut for the Lilywhites in a 9-0 Welsh Cup caning of Llandudno Swifts.

Kemp was a key man in Rhyl winning the Ardal North West League title, scoring nine goals in 36 games across all competitions.

This season, he made 26 Cymru North appearances for 1879, who achieved an impressive fifth-place finish in their first campaign as a Tier 2 club.

In all, he made 69 appearances for Rhyl before deciding to join Prestatyn Town for a third time in his career.

Calyn Spencer

Attacking player Spencer, 25, is reunited at Prestatyn with manager Aden Shannon, his former boss at Flint Mountain.

Spencer has split his career between North Wales and clubs in the north west of England.

His first North Wales club was Penycae back in 2019-20, when the Wrexham area side competed in the former Welsh National League Premier Division.

The midfielder returned in 2022-23 when he joined Flint Mountain of Ardal North West. scoring six goals in 25 appearances.

Mountain finished an excellent fourth in the table, but 2023-24 was to be so much better for them.

Despite having injuries at a couple of stages of last season, Calyn came through to play a starring role in Mountain’s amazing success, which brought them the Ardal North West title, NEWFA Challenge Cup, runners-up in the Ardal Northern Cup and a Welsh Cup quarter-final spot.

He also assisted the reserves in their outstanding campaign which saw them lift the NEWFA Reserve Cup and finish runners-up in the FAW Reserve League North Tier 3.

Over the season, Calyn played 37 first team games and scored seven goals.

Although he joined Chester and Wirral Football League club Waggon and Horses at the beginning of 2024-25, he returned to the Welsh pyramid with Corwen in October 2024.

He made 19 first team appearances in that campaign for the Ardal North East club, hitting five goals, including a double in a heartbreaking penalties loss to Airbus UK Broughton in the NEWFA Challenge Cup. Corwen led the Cymru North giants 3-1 in the tie before being pegged back by two late goals, leading to a shootout.

Spencer remained at Corwen at the start of 2025-26, scoring twice in 10 games, before leaving the club in October and spending the rest of the season with Blacon Youth of the Chester and Wirral Football League.

Now the call of North Wales once more, and the chance to play for Aden Shannon again, has proved too hard to resist for this gifted performer.
