The run of wins is finally over for the champions and league leaders.
Since losing 2-1 at CPD Y Rhyl 1879 on March 10, 2024, Connah’s Quay Nomads had won 24 consecutive Adran North matches, a run of success which has delivered them one league title and made them odds-on favourites to repeat the feat this season.
However, Sunday’s 0-0 draw at home to bitter rivals Llandudno meant the W’s have stopped at last – for now.
It was Tudno who were the previous side to stop Nomads scoring in a league game, in a 2-0 win at Deeside Stadium on January 28, 2024.
Since that day, the Quay had won 26 out of 27 matches – the only loss that game at Rhyl – and never failed to find the net.
Sunday’s clash was made difficult for both sides by the strong wind.
Nomads had the gust at their backs in the first half and made the most chances, Elana Harley and Tia Lockley going close, while visiting keeper Meg Robinson was in solid form.
Llandudno had more of the play in the second half with the wind in their favour, but they too were unable to make the breakthrough.
Nomads remain unbeaten in the league this season and hold a seven-point lead at the summit ahead of second-place Llanfair United and Flint Town United in third.
