The legendary Shaun Beck was among the goals as usual, netting four in Connah’s Quay Nomads Vets’ thrilling 7-5 victory over Rhyl Vets in the North East Wales League Veterans Premier Division.
Flint Town United’s all-time record scorer Beck bagged a quadruple for Nomads, with Leon Bowen adding a brace and Gary Handley a single.
Rhyl put up a good battle, Anthony Colquitt (2), Sean Morgan, Carl Davies and Matty Roberts making up their tally.
In Veterans Division One, Lex Vets overcame Denbigh Wanderers 3-1 on Sunday.
Alan Huxley hit two for the Lawmen, with Oli Jones also on target, Russ Vaughan hitting back for Denbigh.
These two vets fixtures were the only games to take place in the North East Wales League over the weekend with Storm Dennis causing all other matches to be postponed.
