North East Wales Veterans Football League: Nomads hit double figures

Barry Torrence was on the mark for Queen’s Park Vets

NORTH EAST WALES FOOTBALL VETERANS LEAGUE

PREMIER DIVISION

Shaun Beck and Leon Bowen both notched hat-tricks as Connah’s Quay Nomads Vets rattled up an 11-0 victory at Buckley Vets.

Mike Saulsbury and Craig Worthington added two apiece and Alan Richardson was also on target.

Nomads led 6-0 at half time.

In a far closer tussle, Ruthin Town Vets drew 1-1 with CPD Caerwys Vets.

Terry Jones put Caerwys ahead in the 55th minute, but Andrew Roberts salvaged a point for the hosts with an equaliser on 85.

CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION

Penmaenmawr Phoenix Vets romped to a 6-0 triumph over Mochdre Vets on Sunday.

Pete Roberts, Neil Picton, Alex Griffiths, Rob Williams, Bleddyn Jones and an own goal made up the half-dozen.

David Davies’ 89th minute leveller sealed Denbigh Wanderers Vets a 1-1 draw with FC Queen’s Park Vets, who had edged in front on 70 through Barry Torrence.

Point of Ayr Vets versus Mynydd Isa Spartans Vets ended two-apiece.

Tom Griffiths and Steven Stooke struck for the Colliers, Steve Henderson and Jamie Banks replying.
