Tommy Creamer notched his first hat-trick in a Bangor shirt as 1876 rattled up their biggest league win of the season on Tuesday night.
Just three days after an epic Welsh Cup quarter-final victory over Caerau Ely, Michael Johnston’s men were still full of dynamic energy as they put Bethesda to the sword.
A crowd of 529 were at Bangor City Stadium to see the Ardal North West leaders make it 32 games without defeat in all competitions.
The hosts took a 20th minute lead when Declan McManus’ shot following a Cai Powell-Roberts cross was blocked, but Creamer was on hand to lash into the roof of the net.
It was almost two on 36 minutes when a fierce Jack Smith strike was superbly saved by Gethin Hughes.
In first half added time, a second home goal did arrive when a fine move was rounded off by a lethal hit from new signing McManus. Half time: 2-0.
The second half delivered a display of ruthless finishing from the blues.
Hughes got down well to deny Josh Carey, but Creamer was following up to find the net with 48 minutes gone
Creamer completed a hat-trick with his 12th goal of the season on 54 minutes, latching onto a quick free kick and applying a deadly finish.
In the 65th minute Carey made the scoresheet, Cai Owen this time with the assist.
City were not finished yet. Sub Jamie Reed knocked in his 16th first team goal of the campaign after 81, Iolo Hughes putting him through on goal.
Logan Williams then added a trademark thunderbolt two minutes later before Carey finished off the rout with his second.
A priceless three points for Phoenix who claimed their first league win in nine attempts.
Not since beating NFA 3-2 in October had Pen celebrated an Ardal North West victory, but they managed to deliver the goods on Tuesday.
Connah’s Quay Town paid the price for a missed penalty, Harris Thomas failing from the spot in the 55th minute.
Six minutes later, Pen grabbed the only goal, new signing Toby Jones on target from a Jay Sutton assist.
