Two of Denbighshire’s newest senior clubs met on Saturday in a Rhyl versus Prestatyn derby.
And it was visitors the Wanderers who came out on top at Coronation Gardens to record their first victory of the season in North Wales Coast East Division One.
Wanderers are now in their third season, while Blue Bridge are competing in tier 5 for a second successive campaign.
The visitors initially struggled to get going and Bridge were looking dangerous at times, but in the 35th minute the pattern changed when Rob Lloyd committed a foul in the area and the ever-reliable Adam Cassidy fired home from the penalty spot to edge Wanderers in front.
This goal settled the Prestatyn side and a second goal for them early in the second half proved crucial.
Barry Roche floated a free kick onto the head of the outstanding Saeed Jones, who made no mistake.
Wanderers were now in control and they added a third on 69 minutes when Roche netted from a Mason Kenny assist.
Midfielder Roche has had a good goalscoring record for the likes of Bow over the years and he threatened on a few occasions on Saturday before finding the mark.
From here the Wanderers’ performance dipped and Bridge got a deserved goal back on 84 when sub Luke Bradshaw found the net, Jonny Mee with the assist.
Gareth Hastie produced a couple of great saves late on in one-on-one situations to ensure Wanderers did not concede again.
Marcus Scott was red-carded for Wanderers in the 90th minute, but there were no further goals.
A morale-boosting victory for Wanderers, while Blue Bridge will continue to improve the more games they play.
