What a month so far for CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 – and there’s still nine days of it to go!

CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 has been a hotbed of news since the start of June.

Let’s take a look at the happenings from Bangor City Stadium, where a major story seems to break daily, in the month so far.

JUNE 20 – MAJOR KIT DEAL

CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 has secured a major new partnership with a world-famous sportswear manufacturer.
Hummel will become the official kit supplier for all the club’s teams – men’s, women’s and juniors – in a new five-year deal.

The German-founded Danish manufacturing company of sportswear brands provide kits for the likes of Sunderland, Coventry City, FC Köln and Real Betis (football), as well as Wigan Warriors (rugby league) and Wasps (rugby union).

JUNE 19 – STADIUM HONOURS GRASSROOTS HEROES

The atmosphere was vibrant as Bangor City Stadium hosted the 2025 FAW McDonald’s North Wales Grassroots Awards.

JUNE 17 – EXTENSIVE STADIUM IMPROVEMENTS

The club announced major works are planned at Bangor City Stadium which will more than double its seating capacity.

New stands will be constructed at the Northern and Southern end of the ground – behind each goal.

The club house and main stand will also see considerable redevelopment as an extension will add 145 new seats to the existing 787.

Alongside the existing family stands on the Menai side of the pitch, an additional set of three new container stands will be placed on the opposite side of the gantry dedicated to away supporters.

These additions will see the total seated capacity of the stadium increase significantly from 1,045 to 2,226 seats. Numerous other facility upgrades are planned.

JUNE 15 – 1876 BOARD TO STEP DOWN

The current Bangor 1876 board revealed plans to step down at its forthcoming Annual General Meeting.

The board has proposed Bangor City Stadium take over full responsibility for the men’s team ahead of the 2025-26 season.

Present board members feel they have taken the club as far as they can in the six years since formation, rising from tier 5 to tier 2 of the Welsh pyramid, although for now Bangor are back in tier 3.

JUNE 6 – A UK FIRST FOR BANGOR CITY STADIUM

Amazing news as Bangor City Stadium is chosen as the site for the UK’s first full-size 4G pitch.

The combined £520,000 pioneering project will be funded through the Cymru Football Foundation’s Fit-For-Future Facilities Programme and in collaboration with CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 and Nantporth C.I.C.

The CFF – supported by the UK Government’s Grassroots Facility Programme and the Premier League – will pilot the surface in a first for the UK.

The development will be an upgrade of the current 3G pitch at Bangor City Stadium with state-of-the-art facilities built alongside.

The main grass pitch where CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 play will remain the same.

JUNE 5 – NEW CREST

To mark its change of name to CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876, the club launched a new crest in early June.

It incorporates the 1876 identity with Bangor City Stadium, whose owners last season entered into a partnership with the club to develop an exciting new future for football in Bangor.

JUNE 1 – FIVE DEPARTURES

Five squad players from last season, which saw Bangor 1876 relegated from the Cymru North on the final day, left the club.

Mason Blackwell-Jones, Jake Ellison, Joe Sullivan, Dan Cox and Tom Mahoney all moved on.
