FAW WELSH CUP FIRST QUALIFYING ROUND 2026-27

Llandudno Swifts 3 Llanrug United 4

Deadly as ever: Kevin Lloyd

The season may be new but the magic of old remains in the boots of Llanrug United striker Kevin Lloyd.
The 36-year–old frontman, who ended last season on fire with 13 goals in 12 games, hit a first half hat-trick in Rug’s 4-3 Welsh Cup success at Llandudno Swifts.
Lloyd was at his most lethal in the opening half-hour at Go Goodwins Stadium, scoring after 11, 21 and 29 minutes with two assists from Deion Hughes and one via Joshua Evans.
Just before the break, Freddie Banning kept Swifts in the contest by making it 3-1.
Midway through the second half, Llanrug looked to have it sewn up when Hughes notched their fourth goal of the night.
However, Swifts refused to quit and cut the deficit to one with a pair of goals inside a minute timed at 78 and 79. Banning pocketed his second before Jacob Guy converted a penalty to set up a fascinating finish.
However, that was the end of the scoring, Tier 4 Llanrug holding on to book a place in the next round.

NFA 0 Mochdre Sports 2

Mochdre advanced to the next stage of the Welsh Cup with a two-goal triumph at rock-hard Ffordd Derwen.
Two minutes into injury time at the end of the first half, the Tier 4 visitors broke the deadlock when new signing Harry Dodwell finished off an Adam Hold assist.
Tier 3 hosts NFA found themselves in deep trouble in the 76th minute when Kai Wallis was dismissed for a second yellow card.
And the mini giant-killing was sealed in the 83rd when Kai Davies set up substitute Charlie Lloyd to make it 2-0, the centre-half applying a composed finish to round off a smart move.
