There cannot have been too many occasions in cricket where and a father and daughter in the same team have turned out to be match-winners with both bat and ball.

However, Thea Murray-Williams and her dad Neil Murray-Williams were certainly the star turns for Pwllheli seconds in the North Wales League on Saturday.

The pair put together a decisive century partnership with the bat before claiming five wickets between them in Pwll’s close-fought triumph at Bala.

Thea finished 74 not out and Wales international Neil was unbeaten on 63 as Pwll moved from a perilous 89-6 to 221-6 after winning the toss and electing to bat at Castle Park.

In an 84-ball knock, Thea struck nine fours, while Neil cracked 11 boundaries in his innings comprising 73 deliveries.

Cain Jones scooped three for 47 for the hosts.

In response, league newcomers Bala produced a great effort but finished 10 short of their opponents on 211-8, Jason Jones with a match top-score of 84, Josh Mackintosh 54 and Llyr Owen 32.

Well placed on 183-3, the Lakesiders then lost a series of wickets which proved costly, Thea Williams completing a fine match with 3-27, Neil Murray Williams 2-10 off eight and Ioan Morgan 2-36.
