Joshua Jones’ 89th minute penalty clinched a huge win for Flint which took them seven points clear of the drop zone with three matches to play.
It was a magnificent seventh win in a row for the Silkmen at the Essity Stadium, where today’s opponents Barry had been the last visiting side to be victorious in a league game last October.
Barry arrived on the North Wales coast top of the Play-Off Conference, but they were unable to put a dent into the home side’s brilliant recent home record.
Ryan Kavanagh missed a good early opportunity for the visitors before they took a seventh minute lead, Ieuan Owen heading in an Owen Cuddihy corner.
Flint levelled on 17 minutes when Ben Hughes sent a missile from just outside the box on the left whistling past keeper Liam Armstrong – a stunning goal!
Disaster for Barry on 40 minutes when Josh Yorwerth ducked below a long ball from the back by Harry Owen, thinking it was destined for his keeper, but Elliott Reeves nipped in to slot past Armstrong for his eighth goal this term.
There was almost a calamity for the Silkmen at the start of the second half when a cross from the left was knocked just beyond his own post by Ben Collins.
The hosts upped their attacking game, Reeves drilling just wide before Armstrong was forced into a good one-handed save to foil sub Okera Simmonds.
However, in the 81st minute Barry were back level, Kayne McLaggon heading home unmarked from a corner.
It could have got worse had Jack Flint not done well to thwart an Ollie Hulbert outstretched volley from close range.
The final word went to Flint, however. In the 89th minute, Kavanagh pushed over Simmonds in the box and the resultant penalty was coolly rolled home by Jones.
Another season in the Cymru Premier is almost assured for Flint.
