North East Wales League: Mynydd Isa top Prem, Queen’s Park into semis, Broughton hit 22

NORTH EAST WALES FOOTBALL LEAGUE
HORACE WYNNE CUP QUARTER-FINALS
FC Queen’s Park 4 Coedpoeth United 1

Queen’s Park comfortably reached the Horace Wynne Cup semi-finals with a 4-1 victory over Coedpoeth at Queensway Stadium on Saturday.
Sam Molyneux struck first for the Park on 27 minutes, Jake Harper with the assist.
Harper himself doubled the lead after 34, Nicky Williams this time laying on the goal.
Two minutes into the second half, the hosts put one foot firmly in the last four when Andrew Hughes made it 3-0, Corey Smart assisting.
Callum Roberts replied two minutes later to give Coedy a bit of hope, but the tie was all but over when Smart found the net after 71, Nicky Williams with a second assist of the afternoon.
Penyffordd Lions 2 Hawarden Rangers 2 (Penyffordd won 3-1 on penalties)
Penalty shootout joy for Penyffordd after a 2-2 draw.
Paul Messham scored twice for the Lions, Haydn Cartwright and captain Ellis Jones responded for Rangers, with all the goals arriving in the first half.
Rhostyllen 2 Holywell United 1
Favourites Rhostyllen of the North East Wales Premier advanced to the semis, but Championship underdogs Holywell put up a great battle.
Sam Chesters gave Simon Sedgwick’s home side a 31st minute lead before Adam Williams made it two on 56.
Holywell kept battling and notched a deserved consolation through Kieran Durkin five minutes into stoppage time.
NORTH EAST WALES LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION

Greenfield 4 CPD Gronant 1

Greenffeld strengthened their top-four status with a 4-1 whipping of visitors Gronant.
Ryan Carrington put the hosts in front through a 32nd minute penalty, but the away side hit back on 35 through Ashley Andrews.

Unfortunately for Andrews, he was then red-carded on 42 minutes and 18-year-old Evan Davies put Greenfield back in front on the stroke of half time.
A pair of jacks made it a winning hand for the home team in the second half – Jack Pennington netting on 69 minutes and Jack Gibbons after 84.
Mynydd Isa 1 Saltney Town 0
Mynydd Isa climbed to top spot in the Premier thanks to a 65th minute winner from Shaun Tinsley, Nathan Mendoza providing the assist.
NORTH EAST WALES LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP DIVISION

Aston Park Rangers 12 Deeside Dragons 0
Jonny Crossley, Adam Randles and second half debutant sub Mason Lowery all pocketed hat-tricks for APR in this dozen-goal show, Karl Lloyd adding a double plus an assist and Micky Thomas finding the net once.
Tony Jones was man of the match for the victors, supplying three assists.
Broughton United 22 Bellevue 0
Lewis Hopwood banged in seven goals and Elliott Evans six as leaders Broughton rattled up one of North Wales football’s biggest wins of recent seasons.
Oliver Marple added four, Evan Wright, captain Lewis Wright, Lewis Jones, Ryan Pearce and sub Ethan Evans one apiece.
Brymbo 2 Cefn Druids 1
Two teams which not so long ago traded blows in the tier 2 Cymru Alliance, shared a close contest in tier 5 on Saturday.
Druids took a 16th minute lead through Oliver Roberts, but second-place Brymbo battled back to win through goals from captain Tom Potts (44) and Joseph French (81).
Deeside United 1 CPD Cei Connah 4
Paddy Sam Jones (2), Thomas Johnson and Andrew Hornsby split the goals in an emphatic away win for Cei Connah.
Hayden Farrell was the sole United marksman.
Johnstown YFC 5 Skippy 0
Sub Robert Cooper delivered a double for victorious Johnstown, whose other hitmen were Hari Little, Dewi Reeves and Dwayne Jones.
CPD Sychdyn United 2 Overton Recreation 0
Ross Walker and Jordan Walker supplied the first-half goals which clinched the points for Sychdyn.
Harri Ashley produced a superb performance in goal after getting told an hour before kick off he was playing. A man of the match display and a clean sheet from the Sychdyn stopper.
CPD Yr Wyddgrug 1 Acton 6
George Pattenden was a four-goal star for Acton, whose other net-finders were Alix Godfrey and Niall Challoner.
Lewis Jones claimed a consolation for Yr Wyddgrug.
NEWFA RESERVES CUP SEMI-FINALS
Corwen Reserves 1 CPD Rhos Aelwyd Reserves 1 (Corwen won 3-2 on pens)
Corwen edged through to the Reserves Cup final on penalties at the expense of Aelwyd.
The visitors led from the 24th minute through Nathan Evans’ goal before Corwen equalised with 88 on the clock through 41-year-old veteran Wes Brereton.
Mynydd Isa Reserves 4 Lex XI Reserves 1
Cup holders Mynydd Isa reached anothef final with victory over the Law, George Davies, Oliver Howarth and Michael Whales on target in the first half and sub Kobie Betts adding number four in the second, Kieron Jones replying.

Brickfield Rangers Reserves 5 Saltney Town Reserves 0
Subs Isaac Dawson (2) and Aiden Fox, plus further strikes from Jake Barlow and Ben Dawson made this a comfortable success for Bricky.
Penycae Reserves 0 Llangollen Town Reserves 2
Captain Harvey Williams and a Joseph Morris penalty ensured Llangollen had built a winning lead by half time.
