Bangor 1876: club rejects stadium partnership plan; chairman asks fans to behave after heavy fine

Bangor 1876 chairman Glynne Roberts reports the club has turned down a proposal to join a consortum running its current home ground.
Bangor City Stadium Ltd invited the Cymru North club to become part of a group taking control of the former Nantporth, where the team plays its home games.
Chairman Roberts said the 1876 Board decided the fan-owned club should remain independent.
And the chair has also renewed an appeal to supporters to control behaviour at away grounds after 1876 were hit with a heavy fine following trouble at a recent match in Colwyn Bay.
The issues were discussed at a Fans Forum meeting last week.
After the meeting, Mr Roberts said: “Firstly, there is the issue of fan behaviour. We have received a heavy fine from the FAW for the incidents at Colwyn Bay, and are under scrutiny for incidents at other games as well.
“We are a fan-owned club, proud of our community connections and family-friendly reputation. Our behaviours reflect on all of us, and we need to display this in a positive way, both on our travels across North Wales and during home games.”
He added: “Secondly, we discussed the proposal from Bangor City Stadium Ltd for the club to become part of the group of teams encompassed within the Stadium agreement.
“Ultimately, the Board felt it was important for us to retain our independence and fan-owned status. We would have had to relinquish both these aspects to become part of the stadium agreement.
“There was universal support at the meeting for this decision, resulting in the club contacting the stadium to inform them of our decision. We are keen to work with Nick (Pritchard) and the stadium, and to build on the good working relationship we have established.
“The stadium has been one of our major sponsors so far this season, and we are extremely grateful for the support they have provided.
“Hopefully, this relationship can be built upon as we move forward to agree the next steps, and work on a long-term agreement for us to continue playing at the stadium.”

CPD Bangor 1876: Neges i’n cefnogwyr gan Glynne Roberts
“Yn dilyn Fforwm y Cefnogwyr yr wythnos hon, meddyliais y byddai’n ddefnyddiol darparu diweddariad ar gyfer y rhai nad oedd yn bresennol ynghylch y materion a drafodwyd.
“Yn gyntaf, mae mater ymddygiad cefnogwyr. Rydym wedi derbyn dirwy drom gan Gymdeithas Bêl-droed Cymru am y digwyddiadau ym Mae Colwyn, ac rydym dan y lach ar gyfer digwyddiadau mewn gemau eraill hefyd. Rydym yn glwb sy’n eiddo i gefnogwyr, yn falch o’n cysylltiadau cymunedol a’n henw da o gynnwys teuluoedd. Mae ein hymddygiad yn adlewyrchu ar bob un ohonom, ac mae angen i ni ddangos hyn mewn ffordd gadarnhaol, ar ein teithiau ar draws Gogledd Cymru ac yn ystod gemau cartref.
“Yn ail, buom yn trafod y cynnig gan Gwmni Stadiwm Dinas Bangor i’r clwb ddod yn rhan o’r grŵp o dimau sydd wedi’u cwmpasu o fewn cytundeb y Stadiwm. Yn y pen draw, teimlad y Bwrdd ei bod yn bwysig i ni gadw ein hannibyniaeth a’n statws fel clwb y’n eiddo i gefnogwyr.
“Byddem wedi gorfod rhoi’r gorau i’r ddwy agwedd hyn i ddod yn rhan o gytundeb y stadiwm. Roedd cefnogaeth gyffredinol yn y cyfarfod i’r penderfyniad hwn, gan arwain at y clwb yn cysylltu â’r stadiwm i roi gwybod iddynt am ein penderfyniad.
“Rydym yn awyddus i weithio gyda Nick a’r stadiwm, ac i adeiladu ar y berthynas gweithio dda yr ydym wedi’i sefydlu. Mae’r stadiwm wedi bod yn un o’n prif noddwyr y tymor hwn, ac rydym yn hynod ddiolchgar am y gefnogaeth y maent wedi’i darparu.
“Gobeithio y gellir adeiladu ar y berthynas hon wrth inni symud ymlaen i gytuno ar y camau nesaf, a gweithio ar gytundeb hirdymor i ni barhau i chwarae yn y stadiwm.”
