CATCH-UP: North Wales Cricket League Divisions 1-4 – Gwersyllt’s Griffiths stars with bat & ball

Ben Griffiths of Gwersyllt Park seconds was one of the stars of last Saturday.
The all-rounder recorded his maiden century, hitting 105 in his team’s 15-0 victory at Conwy seconds in North Wales League Division Three, and then took 3-1 with the ball!

NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS – DIVISIONS 1-4 – AUGUST 17

DIVISION ONE
Halkyn (13) 92-5 Hawarden Park (2) 91-10
Ben Roberts did best with bat and ball on a day Halkyn overcame the challenge of Hawarden at Pant Newydd.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, Park were all out for just 91, Roberts the star bowler for the hosts with 5-17 off nine, Nathan Lavender an excellent 2-9 from 9 and Alex North 2-21.
Owen Skillander was Hawarden’s top contributor with 29.
Halkyn made it to 92-5 off 36.5, Roberts 28 and Hammad Bajwa 25 not out, Michael Wootton 3-19 off nine for the visitors.
Brymbo 2nd XI (14) 147-2 Connah’s Quay (1) 144-10

After putting on 66 for the first wicket, Joshua Clarke with 40, Quay collapsed to 144 all out, Ross Roberts 3-17 and James Claybrook 3-24 for the hosts, who then eased to victory at 147-2, Claybrook 67 not out and Ross Roberts 52 no.
Buckley (3) 183-10 Mold (12) 228-9
Victorious Mold rattled up a total of 228-9, Jon Crane 73 and skipper Isaac Allen 64, Lee Taylor picking up 5-25 for Buckley, who were dismissed for 183, Chris Geary 75 off just 67 balls and Jack Whitley 43, Connor Hughes 3-13 for the visitors.
Dolgellau (13) 158-4 Bethesda (2) 157-8
Skipper Carwyn L Williams struck 94 not out in Bethesda’s effort of 157-8 off 45 overs, but Dolgellau got home on 158-4, Morgan Yorke 55 no and Jack Williamson 41.
Northop 2nd XI (14) 205-7 Conwy (1) 128-10
Chris Brooks (55) and Charlie Collins (43) helped Northop set a winning total of 205-7, Raj Britto 3-45 for Conwy, who were sent packing for 128, Britto 44, Tom Sudder 2-16 and Darren Williams 2-19 for the leaders.
Pontblyddyn (0) 122-10 Abergele (15) 233-7
Nathan Aldridge led the charge with 76 and Karl Higgins added 33 in an excellent Abergele total of 233-7. Rhys Jones 2-24 for Pont who were then rolled over for 122, Ben Mason 62, David Moulson 4-29 for the dominant away side, who took a 15-0 points verdict.

DIVISION TWO
Bersham (3) 155-10 Bangor 2nd XI (12) 156-6
Gareth Edwards’ magnificent figures of 5-12 off eight overs went a long way towards securing Bangor seconds victory at Bersham.
Despite a fine 76 from Sujeesh Vazhadan and opener Nilanka De Silva’s 35 in the home score of 155 all out, the analysis of Edwards totally stole the show, Kranthi Chowdary taking a useful 3-19.
Bangor reached 156-6 to seal a 12-3 decision, Will Banham 58 no and Chowdary 55, Venkata Kanyadari 3-42 for the hosts.
Carmel and District (12) 163-6 Menai Bridge 2nd XI (3) 162-5
Despite a magnificent 87 from opener Edward Gadsby, Menai Bridge seconds were unable to set a winning score at Pen-y-Gelli.
Bridge set 162-5, Andrew Wannop adding a good 34, but the hosts hit back with 163-6 with an over to spare, Daniel Oliver 45, Jeivishnu Prithivaraj 35, John Duffy 2-24 for the islanders.
Gresford 2nd XI (1) 105-10 Mochdre 2nd XI (14) 195-5
Owen Opie’s dazzling 66 not out off 47 balls and 34 from Scott Roberts did most to ensure Mochdre seconds posted a winning 195-5, then Gresford seconds were dismissed for 105, Gez Jones 44, Russ Boswell 4-1.
Llanrwst (4) 144-8 Marchwiel and Wrexham (11) 163-7
Leaders Marchwiel and Wrexham chalked up another win but found it tough going at Parc Gwydir.
The visitors made 163-7 off 40, skipper Sam Shoemark (54) and Gareth Evans (30) sharing an opening stand of 82, Dewi Parry 2-22 for the Rwsters, who gave it a good go in reply, ending with 144-8, skipper Aron Hughes a superb 89 not out, Phil Oddie 2-19, Gareth Evans 2-20 and Shoemark 2-23 for the visitors.
Had Hughes enjoyed the luxury of a partner who could have stuck with him for longer, the hosts could easily have won the match.
Llay Welfare (2) 146-10 Corwen (13) 149-5
Simon Harrison (35) and Mark Wyeth (34 no) made the key scores as Corwen won by five wickets at The Ring.
Llay, put into bat, were all back in the hutch for 146, Liam Thomas 2-14 and William Pooler 2-18 for the visitors, who hit back with a winning 146-5.
St Asaph 2nd XI (14) 196-9 Pontblyddyn 2nd XI (1) 111-9
Dominic Haynes (56) and Elliott Goddard (55) guided Saints to an uncatchable 196-9, David Brilley 3-19 and Ryan Pearce 2-22 for Pont seconds, who were limited to 111-9, Chetan Upadhyaya 3-20 and Goddard 3-28.
