More cup chaos involving the North Wales Coast FA – another final postponed

The final of the NWCFA Women’s Challenge Cup has been postponed.

CPDM Y Felinheli were due to meet Llandudno in the showpiece on Sunday, April 28.

Tonight the North Wales Coast FA announced the final has been called off for now, but did not state a reason why.

Grassroots North Wales can reveal Llandudno are alleged to have fielded an ineligible player in their 7-0 semi-final victory over Llanystumdwy.

After the match, it is believed Llanystumdwy made a protest to the NWCFA, who in turn expelled Llandudno from the competition last week.

Since then, it is believed Llandudno have appealed, claiming no rule transgression relating to the competition in question has been broken.

The NWCFA put out the following statement this evening: “It is with regret that the North Wales Coast Football Association (NWCFA) announces the postponement of the NWCFA Women’s Challenge Cup Final, which was due to be played on Sunday 28th April 2024.

“A new date for the final will be announced in due course.

“The NWCFA will not make any further comment on this matter at this time.”

This is not the only final of a NWCFA competition still in abeyance this season.

The make-up of the NWCFA Junior Cup Final is still undecided because of ongoing appeals involving semi-finalists CPD Y Glannau and Bow FC.

Y Glannau beat Bow in the semi-final 8-1 on February 17. Bow submitted a protest, claiming a substitute who came on for Y Glannau in the 81st minute, with the score at 8-1, was ineligible, having played for another club in an earlier round.

This matter is still in the hands of the FAW and remains unsolved.

Llanfairpwll await in the final.

In 2021-22, the NWCFA Intermediate Challenge Cup Final between CPD Y Rhyl 1879 and CPD Bangor 1876 never took place as no suitable venue could be found before the end of the season.

It was rescheduled for early pre-season, but never happened at all.

Where will this all end?
