Jess Jones reached 50 career goals for Llangefni in just her 33rd appearance after netting five in her team’s final league game of the season today.
The 18-year-old boosted her tally for the current campaign to 43 goals – 25 in North Wales Women’s League West – to add to the seven she scored last term.
Cefni finished the 2023-24 season in runners-up spot behind invincible champions Pwllheli.
Town went out in style today with a double-figure salvo at Anglesey rivals Trearddur Bay.
Jess Jones set the tone for the afternoon by scoring twice inside the first five minutes at Lon Isallt.
A third from Jones soon after made it a 13-minute hat-trick before a Jen Cox double, helped by assists from Jones and Hannah Owen, boosted the score to 5-0.
Catrin George and Ellie Coulson brought it to 7-0 by half time. The game was won and it was now a case of damage limitation in the second half for Trearddur.
Three minutes into the second half, Jess Jones notched her fourth before Bay did manage to hit back through a Sarah Flower goal on 56 minutes.
Nia Ginnelly set up Jones for her fifth and 50th in all for the club before substitute Caitlin Cochrane bagged another consolation for Bay.
The scoring was complete when Ffion Thomas supplied the assist for Hannah Owen to score.
This was Cefni’s first game in four weeks and they were back in the groove very quickly.
They still have the Betty Pickering Cup to go for with a quarter-final coming up at home to Denbigh Town on April 28.
Runners-up Denbigh finished their season with a commendable draw at a Berriew side which grew in stature as the season went on.
However, having led 2-0, Town will probably feel it was a game they should have won.
Catrin Davies put the visitors ahead on 23 minutes via a Lowri Claybrook assist.
Four minutes later scorer turned provider as Davies set up Beth Kell to make it 2-0.
Faye Marshall replied a minute after to cut the deficit to one at the interval.
And Marshall levelled on 63 to ensure honours ended even.
