Delay announced to start of North Wales Cricket League season due to weather
The start of the 2024 North Wales Cricket League season has been delayed by two weeks due to the unusually inclement weather for this time of year.
Extremely wet conditions throughout April so far has left many grounds saturated and not fit to begin the campaign as planned on April 20.
Instead, the 2024 programme will begin on May 4, by which time it is hoped the weather will have improved and fields and wicket areas may have dried out.
League chairman Lucy Norman told Grassroots North Wales: “The management committee have made the decision to delay the season by 2 weeks due to pitches not being ready due to extremely wet weather.”
This season’s league will comprise of the usual five Saturday divisions – Premier, One, Two, Three and Four. However, the Premier will be reduced to 10 teams with a T20 competition included.
Sunday divisions will remain the same, with new club Bala CC joining the Sunday West League.
