Kinmel Bay Development hit six and return to the top spot

NORTH WALES COAST DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE EAST

Prestatyn Wanderers 0
Kinmel Bay Development 6 (Meredith 30 & 61, Maxwell 40, J Jones 49 & 78, Rutter 89)
Two goals apiece from George Meredith and Jacob Jones helped secure Kinmel Bay a victory which returned them to the top of the table.
Sunday’s game took place at the St Asaph Leisure Centre pitch as Wanderers’ home field at Meliden was unplayable.
It was a pretty even first 15 minutes with both teams moving the ball around and playing some good football.
Bay started to edge the game and had a couple of chances leading up-to the opening goal on 30 minutes.
Connor Craig won the ball off the Wanderers left back and put an inch-perfect cross into the box for Meredith to score with a brilliant header.
Ten minutes later the visitors doubled the lead through Jake Maxwell, who was played through on the counter-attack from a Wanderers corner by Hayden Rutter and carried the ball from the halfway line before rounding the keeper and slotting home.
Moments later some more good work from Maxwell led to him cutting in from the left and taking a right footed shot that agonisingly came back off the crossbar.
HT: Wanderers 0-2 Bay
A half time change saw Kinmel bring on prolific winger Jacob Jones, who scored four minutes after the restart to make it 3-0, Rutter again with the assist.
On 61 minutes a Mark Hughes corner was nodded home by Meredith for his second of the game and fourth headed goal in the past two matches.
In the 70th minute, Bay’s Hughes was fouled in the box and a penalty was awarded.
Meredith stepped up in hope of getting his hat-trick but his shot went high and the score remained 4-0.
Rutter then thought he’d scored when he tapped the ball in at the back post from a Jones cross, but was ruled to be offside.
After 78 minutes. Jacob Jones got his second when he picked up the ball on the left, beat three opponents, cut inside and unleashed a powerful finish into the top far corner – some strike.
Wanderers didn’t give up and pushed hard for a goal back. They thought they had one when a goal kick was taken short and intercepted by a Wanderers attacker who slotted away, but unfortunately he was in the penalty area as the kick was taken so the goal was ruled out,
The last goal came in the 90th minute and it was Rutter who scored it, A tidy finish inside the area was no more than he deserved for his hard work throughout the game.
