Ynys Môn ace Mabli Blackshaw shines in Cymru European Championship triumph

Mabli Blackshaw in action for Cymru

Ynys Môn 14-year-old sensation Mabli Blackshaw produced another impressive performance for her country in Cymru’s 3-0 win over Luxembourg in the European Women’s Under-17 Championship on Sunday.

Holyhead girl Mabli, who represents the Caernarfon Town Academy, played 77 minutes of the Round 1 – Group B4 clash at the Tbilisi Sea Technical Center Stadium in Georgia.

Maizie Stiens of Briton Ferry Llansawel scored twice for Wales, with centre-back Katie Whiteway of Aberystwyth, who plays for Aston Villa, also on target.

Alongside Mabli in the team was fellow North Walian Amber Low of Prestatyn, a midfield ace developing her career at Liverpool with previous football links for Airbus and NFA.

Mabli, who will be 15 in December, has also represented Cymru at U16 level and Sunday brought her fourth cap at U 17. She has 11 international caps in all.

Currently playing for Caernarfon Town U15 in the FAW National Academi North and also a former Holyhead Hotspur junior, Mabli will hope to feature again for Wales against Georgia in midweek.
