Reports from North Wales Coast East and West – NFA lose their unbeaten league record

NORTH WALES COAST EAST LEAGUE
Premier Division

Llandyrnog United 3 NFA 2
One of the shocks of the season saw NFA lose their unbeaten league record away to a Llandyrnog outfit which had not won in six matches.
After their 100% slate was scuppered in a 2-2 draw at Mochdre Sports the previous weekend, things got worse on Saturday for the Rhyl-based visitors.
Overall, a draw might have been a fairer result, with Dyrny’s Ryan Fox the busier of the two keepers, but the home side’s battling spirit served them well in producing their best result of 2023-24 so far.
NFA were ahead after about 30 seconds through Matthew Rees, and with the run Llandyrnog were on, their supporters could have been forgiven for expecting the worst.
Fox produced two massive saves for the hosts before Dan Porter snatched an equaliser against the run of play after 33 minutes.
Half time arrived at 1-1 and Dyrny probably were a little fortunate to go in level, but they had certainly worked hard.
Llandyrnog started the brighter in the second half and really went hunting that second goal. They had a couple of half chances, but nothing was coming off for them.
NFA managed to take the lead through Ryan Roberts with 73 gone, and in all honesty should have gone on and grabbed a match-winning third to put it to bed, but they couldn’t convert.
Dyrny managed to equalise through a fantastic Nathan Rose goal on 81. He was left unmarked at the back post at a set piece and punished NFA.
NFA went looking for a winner, but were caught out on the counter in the 86th minute.
Llandyrnog looked like they had over-played after some great initial work from winger Ben Green, but the ball eventually fell to Tom Wynne, who managed to create a bit of space for himself, and fired home what turned out to be the decider.
NFA did have another go, but Fox again looked good and veteran centre-back Neil Brown came on and headed away lumped balls, helping ensure his team held out for a huge win.
Bro Cernyw 1 Llansannan 5
Dafydd Jones struck twice as Llansannan took the honours in Saturday’s derby at Bro Cernyw.
Jones netted on 13 and 22 minutes, Leon Gierke converting first for the visitors on 10.
Luke Appleby added a fourth for Sannan before the interval, Cai Lloyd Price responding for Bro with a penalty.
There was just the one goal in the second half, Robert Hurst making it 5-1 late on.
Llandudno Junction 5 Llanfairfechan Town 0
Nathan Williams, Dean Seager, Curtis Cooper (2) and Robert Gore made the scoresheet in a convincing home success for the Junction.
Meliden 1 Cerrigydrudion 2
Cerrig moved top on goal difference with a narrow victory at The Mine.
Iorwerth Jones and Tomos Watkin-Jones grabbed the goals that mattered for the visitors, substitute Rio Ross replying for Meliden.
Recent signing Zebb Edwards was shown a red card for the hosts two minutes into stoppage time, while Elias Jones was dismissed for the visitors after the final whistle.
Penmaenmawr Phoenix 1 Kinmel Bay 4
Cracking win for Kinmel Bay at the home of the overnight leaders.
Phoenix took the lead through Daniel Hughes in the seventh minute, but the hosts were reduced to 10 when Ben Jarvis saw red on 21.
Leon Bower levelled on 33 minutes and a penalty from the prolific Connor Morris made it 2-1 Kinmel at half time.
Up against 10 men for the entire second 45, Bay kept control and a late double from 17-year-old Owain Roberts clinched them the points.

Top-marksman Harrison Bellis struck twice in the second half to edge up to 42 goals from 20 matches, Luke Stanley, Ashley Bamber and sub Thomas Jones also on target.
Betws y Coed 1 Henllan 4
Josh Jones, Jordan Owen, Sam Davies and Harry Payne supplied the goals in this Henllan win, Simon Blain responding for hosts Betws.
Bow 4 Glan Conwy 2
Good win for unbeaten Bow in this top of the table encounter.
New signing Kieran Ellis netted twice, Loui O’Carroll and sub Adam Williams also on the mark for the title hopefuls.
Luke Snape and Cyril Carey provided second-place Glan’s replies.
Llysfaen 0 Llandudno Amateurs 2
Amateurs moved six points clear at the summit with a hard-fought success at improving Llysfaen on Saturday.

Llanystumdwy 8 CPD Mountain Rangers 3
Owen Pritchard, Guto Roberts and Iwan Richards all delivered doubles in a big home win for Llanystumdwy which put them three points behind leaders Bontnewydd.
The hosts put the disappointment of being removed from the NWCFA Junior Challenge Cup during the week behind them, Arwyn Parry and Guto Griffith adding a goal each for the Parc Dwyfor side.
Alan Owen, Dion Jones and Jan Muller were the Rangers hitmen, Owen also missed from the spot.
