NWCFA INTERMEDIATE CHALLENGE CUP ROUND ONE REPORTS – AUGUST 29

Blaenau Ffestiniog 1-1 Cemaes Bay (Cemaes Bay won 6-5 on pens)

Goalkeeper Connor Hughes saved three shootout penalties to emerge as Cemaes Bay’s hero in Saturday’s Intermediate Cup tie at Cae Clyd.
Tom Wood gave the Anglesey visitors a 33rd minute lead from a Matty Reynolds assist.
For a long while, it looked like that goal might prove enough, but Blaenau equalised in the 86th minute through veteran sub Owain Williams, forcing the necessity for penalties.
Misses occurred from both sides, but Bay eventually won the shootout 6-5 with keeper Hughes the star man.

CPD Y Glannau 6-0 Prestatyn Sports

Second half sub Andrew George scored a seven-minute hat-trick to send Y Glannau storming into the next round.
Sait Kanli (2) and Dan Price had earlier given the home team a three-goal lead.

Bontnewydd 2-7 St Asaph City

Leon Bower and sub James Williams both scored twice as St Asaph netted four times in the final 20 minutes to clinch what was eventually an emphatic victory at Cae Stanley.
Bower (2) and Evan Espley handed Saints a 3-0 half time lead, and although Bont hit back through Cai Williams and Llyr Williams, those late goals took the visitors clear. Subs Ellis Blench and Josh Brown also scored for Asaph.
North Wales Coast West Premier hosts Bontnewydd had Jason Owen sent off in the 68th minute for two yellow cards.

Conwy Borough 4-0 Gwalchmai

Comfortable for Conwy with James Lansdowne handing them a half time lead before Dion Jones, sub Bradley Williams and Connor Morris added further goals in the second period.

Llandudno Swifts 5-1 Llanystumdwy

Jacob Fraser (2), sub Leo Davies, Geraint Thomas and Jake Carey shared the goals which sent Swifts into the next round, captain Guto Gwenallt with Llanystumdwy’s solitary reply.

Llanrug United 0-6 Mochdre Sports

Mochdre completed their fifth straight victory of the season – all of them coming away from home.
Lee Stokes was the main headline maker at Eithin Duon on Saturday, scoring a hat-trick, Leon Hender, Gareth Jones and Harry Dodwell also on the mark.
In their quintet of consecutive wins, Sports have netted 21 goals and conceded just a single one.

CPD Llansannan 4-3 Penrhyn Bay

Sub Gruffudd Roberts plundered a 95th minute winner for Llansannan in a seven-goal barnstromer.
Ben Williams edged Penrhyn Bay in front after 14 minutes, Danny Porter levelled on 22, but Williams then put through his own goal wth 27 gone to hand Sannan a 2-1 lead at the break.
Captain Dafydd Jones made it 3-1 on 62, but back came Bay to equalise via Solomon Dickens and sub Brandon Longley after 76 and 79 respectively.
The stage was set for the winner or else it would be penalties, but Roberts proved to be the man of the moment for Llansannan.

Nantlle Vale 1-2 CPD Llanberis

Big result for Llanberis in this Arfon derby.
Ben Rowlands handed the Darans an interval lead at Maes Dulyn, Nathan Palmer equalised four minutes into the second half, but Matthew Jones provided the winner for the visitors on the hour.

Talysarn Celts 3-0 Rhos United

Jac Bee, captain Tomos Williams and Gethin Jones supplied the goals which sent Talysarn through.
