North Wales Coast East – Y Glannau hit 10, Bow and NFA lose 100 percent records

NORTH WALES COAST EAST LEAGUE REPORTS – JANUARY 13

Division One

Y Glannau 10-1 Prestatyn Wanderers

Harrison Bellis reached the magical 40-goal mark for the season with a quadruple as fourth-place Y Glannau made it seven wins in their last eight games.

The St Asaph hosts made a good start, but Wanderers keeper Anthony Gunther produced a couple of fine early stops to deny Bellis and Luke Stanley.

Wanderers battled impressively for the first 20 minutes and were in the game. Defensively they performed well as a team.

Joey Fontana was having a great game in the middle, winning every header and driving well with the ball.

He went on a dazzling run, taking on four opponents and then putting Stanley through on goal, only again for Gunther to save well with his legs.

However, Y Glannau did take the lead after 25 minutes. Fontana played a ball to Osian Williams who crossed for Bellis to nod home.

Three minutes later a Williams cross/shot went across goal and the ball fell to Josh MacGillivray, who smashed home for 2-0.

A great move delivered goal number three. Chris McQuillen played in Bellis, who put it on a plate for Stanley to tap in.

Tawse Cox went close to making it 4-0 with a curling effort but once again Gunther saved well.

Moments before half time, Prestatyn cleared from a corner but Cox was there on the edge of the area to finish well on the volley and celebrate his first goal for the club.

HALF-TIME: 4-0

In the 53rd minute Bellis pounced on a loose balll, beat a defender and slotted home calmly.

Fontana then got his deserved goal, making the most of a Stanley assist.

Shortly after, Stanley pulled the ball back smartly for Bellis to complete his hat-trick.

Wanderers replied with a great goal. Martin Halewood picked up the ball in the middle, drove forward and hit a fantastic strike from 30 yards which went in off the bar into the top corner.

On 68 minutes, Bellis got his fourth of the game and 40th of the season from just 19 matches, latching onto a McQuillen chip to lob the advancing keeper for 8-1.

Bellis then turned provider for Stanley to slot in number nine.

Double figures arrived when Stanley set up Aaron Dodwell to tap home.

Henllan 3-1 Penrhyn Bay

Ashley Andrews scored twice in the first 17 minutes – one from the penalty spot – to launch Henllan on their way to a cracking win.

Josh Jones added a third for the hosts on 75 before sub Tom Cotterell pulled one back for Bay.

Llysfaen 3-3 Bow FC

Bow’s 100% record was ended by a battling Llysfaen who were great value for a point.

Having lost a number of players to Prestatyn Town, Bow nonetheless had a strong squad on call at the Bananabeau.

Captain Stuart Roberts plundered an equaliser for the hosts four minutes into added time to grab a point.

Joel Massam and Sean Sheridan also struck for the home side, Kyle Robb (2) and Adam Williams with Bow’s responses.

The visitors led three times, but were unable to hold on.

Rhos United 1-6 Llandudno Amateurs

Leaders Amateurs maintained their goal-crazy antics with six of the best at the OPS Wind Arena.

Mike Chapman and Azz Rogers scored two apiece, Frankie Arkwright and Joe Jones also on the mark.

Rhyl All Stars 3-4 Glan Conwy

Two late goals from Dave Hansom clinched a hard-fought victory for second-place Glan

Luke Snape gave the visitors a first-minute lead, Carl Howard equalised on 11, Cynan Edwards restored the away advantage, but a Macauley Lewis penalty made it 2-2 at half time.

Lewis struck again on 68 to nudge the All Stars in front, but Hansom levelled after 88 and the hosts then had subs Tyler Donnelly and Elliot Maitland-Price red-carded.

To break All Stars’ hearts further, Hansom bagged the decider in added time.

Premier Division

Abergele 0-3 Penmaenmawr Phoenix

Leaders Penmaenmawr took the spoils at Eirias Park with goals from Daniel Williams, veteran Mike Williams and substitute Elliot Jarvis.

The visitors could also afford the luxury of a missed penalty from Logan Williams.

Cerrigydrudion 6-2 Llandyrnog United

Second-place Cerrig stayed in the title picture with a six-goal show at home to Llandyrnog United, captain Tomos Tryfan Jones, Iorwerth Jones, Tomos Watkin-Jones, Tirion Griffiths, Llion Thomas (penalty) and a Michael Harrison own goal making up the home haul.

Alfie Harrison and Sam Evans responded for Llandyrnog. Michael Harrison was also red-carded for the visitors.

Llandudno Junction 4-3 Bro Cernyw

Junction edged a seven-goal thriller at the Flyover.

Dave Maddock, Tomos Rhys-Williams, Dean Seager and Dan Roberts struck one apiece for the Railwaymen, Robin Hughes (2) and Hedd Williams for the visitors.

Roberts pocketed the winner in the 81st minute.

Llanfairfechan Town 3-3 Meliden

All-square at the Recreation Ground, a Luca Querci own goal, Dan Hughes and Elliot Croston providing the home tally, Frankie Davies, plus subs Lucas Edwards and Matty Griffiths salvaging a point for Meliden.

Edwards was dismissed in added time for the Miners after receiving a second yellow.

Mochdre Sports 2-2 NFA FC

NFA’s 100 percent record was ended in a 2-2 split at Swan Road.

Niall Owen and Cameron McGaw, with an 82nd minute equaliser, found the net for Mochdre, Lewis Evans and Matthew Robinson on the scoresheet for the Rhyl-based visitors.
