NWCFA Development League – great victories for Gaerwen, Llanrug and NFA

NWCFA DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE WEST

CPD Gaerwen Development 2 Bontnewydd Development 0
It’s back-to-back 2-0 wins for Gaerwen Development who are starting to find their feet in the West League.
Sunday brought a welcome home victory for the Anglesey side over bottom team Bontnewydd.
The first half started well, with both teams attacking, but it remained 0-0 after 45 minutes.
Gaerwen made the breakthrough on 56 minutes when Gethin Hughes, assisted by Calum Thomas, scored a lovely goal.
A couple of substitutions were made by both sides and it became a race – were Bont going to get an equaliser, or would the hosts grab a second?
Tomos Hughes, playing keeper-sweeper, made some great stops to keep it at 1-0.
Then in the 64th minute Calum Thomas bagged a fine goal for the islanders, Callum Hughes this time the provider.
Bont continued to attack and some really good football was played by both teams, but when the full time whistle went it was 2-0 to the Auctioneers.
Gwion Parry made his debut for Gaerwen’s Development side.
Llanrug United Reserves 8 CPD Pentraeth Development 1
Charlie Dales handed visitors Pentraeth a 14th minute lead, but that was as good as it got for the Anglesey side.
Three goals in seven minutes from Llanrug before the break turned the game their way.
Jack Parry, Robin Thomas and Sam Griffiths all found the net in a golden attacking spell.
The second half saw the Development League West leaders take total control.
Owen Roden scored on 54 and 58 minutes to make it 5-1 and killed the game as a contest.
Griffiths added a double to complete a hat-trick before a Cian Newell penalty rounded off the scoring.
