Alex Jones scored the only goal as Rhyl 1879 moved seven points clear at the summit with a great win at Clywedog Park

Taking on a Bricky side unbeaten in five, the Lilywhites were looking to make amends following the previous weekend’s disappointing 2-2 draw with Saltney Town.

Rhyl started on the front foot, forcing home keeper Cameron Dutton to pull off a string of fine saves.

Rangers were proving to be excellent on the counter, utilizing their pace and energy to heap prolonged periods of pressure on the Rhyl back-line.

On 35 minutes, Brickfield had a golden opportunity when forward Andy Vale was one on one with Rhyl keeper Ryan Woods only to flash his effort wide of the post.

At the end of the first half, it was 1879 who took the lead with home keeper Dutton saving a James Jones effort brilliantly only for brother Alex Jones to force the ball over the line.

The second half continued in a similar vein, with both goalkeepers called on to prevent any further goals.

Following the game, 1879 manager Gareth Thomas said: “It’s a great three points on a difficult pitch, Oli Staveley absolutely fantastic when he came on, it was a proper squad performance that won us that game today.”

What a day for the Joneses!

Four different players sharing the popular surname shared Llannefydd’s six goals against Hawarden.

Tom and Morgan netted two apiece, while Sam and Ed both scored one. Connor Parry replied for the visitors.

Great result for a Saltney side which celebrated their first win in 13 matches, 10 of those games having brought defeats.

Star man for the Bordermen, J J King worked his magic again by delivering the 92nd minute winner.

Lewis Bevan put Town ahead on 18 minutes before Ashley Ainsworth levelled after 58.

St Asaph City 1 Llangefni Town 3

Anglesey aces Llangefni became the first away team to win in the league at St Asaph this season, a 3-1 result lifting the islanders into second place.

Dan Thomas and Matty Jones struck for Cefni on 15 and 18 minutes respectively before Tyler Joyce hit back for Saints on 24.

Dewi Thomas sealed it for Town with a 92nd minute third goal.

Llansantffraid Village 1 Radnor Valley 1

Two late goals – one for each side – ensured it finished level at Llansantffraid.

Elliot Morris edged Radnor in front on 84 minutes, but Joe Makinson levelled it after 85.

The point keeps Radnor in second, while Saints are in third spot.

Penycae 4 Welshpool Town 1

A first league win of the season for Penycae at the 10th attempt.

Zac Davies, Harry Killick and Harry Jones all scored in the first half to give the hosts a 3-0 interval lead.

Welshpool manager Russell Cadwallader was sent off in added time at the end of the half after receiving a second yellow card.

Hari Gould made it 4-0 on 47 minutes before Ethan Kinsey bagged a consolation for the Powys-based Lilywhites after 56.
