Corwen exited the Premier Cup on penalties after fighting back to draw in the match itself with a late equaliser.
The away side took a fifth minute lead when Edward Brown launched a free kick from the edge of the centre circle which evaded everyone in a crowded penalty area and found the net.
The scores were level in the 38th minute when Owen Cordiner received a Henry Evans throw-in, ran into the box and as keeper Jamie Griffiths committed himself, slipped the ball into the path of Robbie Williams, who found an unguarded net.
Penyffordd retook the lead in the 45th minute, when Ben Hughes muscled his way past two Corwen defenders before placing the ball into the bottom corner of the net.
The visitors thought they had doubled their advantage early in the second period when Brown knocked a free kick into the penalty area, where the ball was placed home, but disallowed for offside.
At the opposite end Robbie Williams got through on goal, but shot just over the bar.
Corwen keeper Evan Parry denied Brown and Liam Hughes before the equaliser arrived in the 85th minute.
The hosts were awarded a free kick on the edge of the D and Alex Webster lashed the ball into the far corner.
In stoppage time it looked as if Ioz Jones was going to book Corwen a quarter-final place, but his close range effort brought a great save out of Griffiths, who saw the ball rebound into the path of Osian Roberts, but he fired over the bar.
