NORTH WALES COAST EAST DIVISION ONE REPORTS

Bow FC 3 (Parry pen 37 & 52, Carey 55)
Llysfaen 2 (Kearney 10, Collier 49)

What was expected to be a thrilling opener to the season turned out to be just that.

Although Bow took the points, Llysfaen led twice and could easily have ended up with a draw.

From early on, the hosts tried to play possession football while the visitors put their counter attacking play to good use.

In the 10th minute, a long ball from the back just evaded the Bow defence and Reece Kearney went one-on-one with home keeper Richard Hillier-Evans before calmly slotting away,

This woke Bow up and they started to play some excellent football.

In the 37th minute Ashley Seddon was set free and skipped past two players only to get brought down in the box.

Former TNS and Llandudno midfielder Robbie Parry made it 1-1 from the spot.

Just before half time. only a great double save by James Roberts denied Bow the lead.

Early in the second half, Llysfaen led again when Tom Collier pounced from a rebound off keeper Hillier-Evans.

Three minutes later it was 2-2 when James Harper and Joe Carey combined brilliantly in the midfield to set up Parry, who danced past opponents and found the net.

The winner on 55 minutes was a cracker.

Super build-up play from the back led to Carey lashing a beautiful finish into the top corner.

Chances fell at both ends before late on Bow were reduced to 10 men following an off the ball challenge by Rich Hill.

Nonetheless, the hosts defended really well in the closing stages to hold on for the win.

Y Glannau 5 Penrhyn Bay Dragons 1

Goal machine Harrison Bellis began the league season with four as Y Glannau eventually comfortably saw off opening day opponents Penrhyn Bay.

The St Asaph hosts were on fire from the off.

In the fourth minute Aaron Dodwell won a free-kick out on the left, Tawse Cox put the delivery into the box, keeper Bernardas Subkovas came out to claim the ball but dropped it and Bellis was there to pounce.

One minute later it it was 2-0. Brad Wright struck a long goal kick, Bellis controlled it well and played a lovely ball down the right which Chris McQuillen ran on to and finished well.

The rest of the half was quite frustrating at times for the home side.

Penrhyn Bay got one back through Stan Farrell’s classic header in the 39th minute after a long throw wasn’t dealt with

Y Glannau started the second half much better, pressing as a team.

On 59 minutes, the home team made it 3-1 after another lengthy kick from Wright. Dodwell flicked it on into the path of Bellis, who then ran into the box and finished well into the bottom right corner.

Bellis almost completed his hat-trick moments later but his stunning effort hit the top of the bar.

Goal number four came after 70 minutes after Chris Rogers teed up Bellis for his treble.

It was a Bellis twin brothers special which made it 5-1 before the end.

Michael found Harrison in space and the striker once more finished smartly.

Glan Conwy 5 Rhyl All Stars 2

Good start for new Glan managers Nathan Watson and David Pasko with a 5-2 home win over a hard-working All Stars.

Oliver Carey gave the home side a 14th minute lead but Thomas Bamber levelled on 35.

Henllan 4 Betws-y-Coed 2

Harry Payne, Matthew Parsonage and Alex Thomas all found the net inside the first half-hour to put Henllan in command.

Making their return to competitive football after a season’s absence, Betws responded through Connor Court before half time.

After the break a Stephen Parry own goal gifted Henllan their fourth before Callum Robinson pocketed a late consolation for the visitors.

Prestatyn Wanderers 3 Rhyl Dragons 3

Quite a thrilling, incident-packed game at the Rhyl Leisure Centre outdoor pitch.

Adam Cassidy (2) and Dardan Hoxha put Dragons three-up, but Wanderers did not help themselves through missed penalties from Steve Taylor and Tom Jones.

However, the hosts refused to give in and fought back for a draw.

Substitute Jonny Mee, Thomas Fleming and Harley Griffiths, with a 79th minute leveller, salvaged Wanderers a point.
