NORTH WALES CRICKET LEAGUE REPORTS – JULY 15

DIVISION TWO

Brymbo 2nd XI (15) 14-1 Gresford 2nd XI (0) 13-10

One of the lowest totals witnessed for some years in the North Wales League saw Gresford seconds dismissed for an unlucky 13 at Brymbo.

Put into bat, the visitors innings lasted 14.1 overs and featured seven scores of 0, with Akbar Shareef Babar taking 4-6 off six, Ryan Holloway 3-5 and Ross Roberts 2-1.

Leaders Brymbo seconds reached 14-1 off 12 balls to wrap up a 15-0 verdict.

Buckley 2nd XI (12) 171-7 Bersham (3) 168-3

Wicket-keeper Ollie Fellows starred with 63 as Buckley seconds triumphed by three wickets at Lane End.

Invited to bat in a game cut to 32 overs per team because of rain, Bersham posted a useful 168-3, opener Hari Garikapogula 59 not out and Sameera-Sam De Silva 45.

Fellows and opening bat Mathew Edge (44) were the main contributors as Bucks reached 171-7 off 29.2, Nilanka De Silva 2-21.

Mocndre 2nd XI (3) 207-9 Bangor 2nd XI (12) 248-3

Nadeem Rehman produced his second highest score in North Wales cricket of 133 in Bangor seconds’ outstanding win at Mochdre.

Indian all-rounder Rehman has been playing in the north since 2006 and his best remains the 139 he made in that year for Pwllheli at Rhewl.

Yesterday, the player who completed the 10,000 runs and 500 wickets double last year came mightily close to beating that highest score.

The weather was kind in Mochdre, where the teams managed to play the full 80 overs.

Asked to bat, Bangor amassed a superb 248-3 off 40, Rehman’s ton well-backed by 48 from Pavan Zala and fellow opener Chris Barry’s 33, Thomas Opie 2-45 for the hosts.

Mochdre produced a spirited reply, but finished 42 short of victory on 207-9.

Skipper Scott Roberts made 55, Thomas Opie 42 and Zack Coverley 38, Andy Williams 4-22 for the home team.

Sim completed a great match with 3-28, Amer Jamil claimed 2-15 and Nick Hughes 2-24, Carmel taking the spoils 12-3.

St Asaph 2nd XI (11) 165-7 Llanrwst (4) 147-9

So many good performances in a great contest between the Saints and the Rwsters at Elwy Park Grove.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, St Asaph seconds set 165-7 off a reduced 32 overs, Andy Mearns topping the chart with 58, Roger Cloete adding 40 and Ieuan Jones 31, Johann Fourie bagging 4-38 for the visitors.
