Liverpool and District – Perera stars again as Prestatyn keep perfect record, Northop Hall so close to victory, Bay beaten

1ST XI ECB Premier League

Colwyn Bay (1) 75-10 Leigh (20) 79-2

Not the best of days for the Bay as they crashed to 75 all out in just 23.1 overs after being put into bat.
Will Higginson was top contributor for the visitors with 20 not out, while for Leigh, the charmingly named Finnegan Hulbert scooped 5-17.
The visitors eased to 79-2 in reply off just 15.2 overs to seal a 20-1 points victory, Ryan Holtby with 2-30 for the home side.

1ST XI Second Division

Northop Hall (6) 165-10 Fleetwood Hesketh (5) 94-8

Skipper Carwyn Johnson’s impressive six-wicket haul nearly carried the Hall to victory over visitors Fleetwood Hesketh.
The hosts were asked to bat and managed a modest 165 all out from 62.2 overs, Ben Slater making 60, Will Edwards 32 and Thomas Doggett 30.
With 23 overs to survive for the draw, the away side just clung on, finishing 94-8 with Johnson returning great figures of 6-44. Hall shared the points 6-5.

Prestatyn (25) 99-1 Norley Hall (0) 98-10

Sri Lankan ace Sampath Perera was once more in magical form with bat and ball as Prestatyn thrashed Norley Hall to make it three straight wins in 2023.
The away side were put in at Beach Close and blitzed out for just 98, Perera 4-18 off 13.3 overs, Scott Williams 3-23.
With the weather far from predictable, Prestatyn made light work of their target, getting to 99-1 in just 22.1, Perera 51 not out off 46 balls including eight fours and a six.

2ND XI Premier Division

Leigh 2nd XI (5) 0-0 Colwyn Bay 2nd XI (5) 190-9 declared

No decision – rain stopped play.

2ND XI First Division

Spring View 2nd XI (9) 225-7 dec Northop Hall 2nd XI (3) 63-9

Visitors Northop Hall seconds clung on for an unlikely losing draw.
Michael Arden collected 3-17 as Spring View declared on 225-7 off 38 overs.
Hall were 63-9 in response, the last pair holding out to avoid defeat.

2ND XI Second Division

Norley Hall 2nd XI (20) 117-4 Prestatyn 2nd XI (4) 116-10

Jack Cheetham (43) and Joe Horton (35) produced good knocks in a low Prestatyn total, the visitors having been inserted by the opposition.
Norley Hall comfortably reached the 117 needed to win for four wickets down, Navneet Kaimal 2-28.
