Holywell Town’s popular manager Johnny Haseldin has a double reason to celebrate.

Saturday saw the Wellmen score their 1,000TH GOAL of Haseldin’s reign during their 4-0 win over Guilsfield.

And today it was announced the former Greenfield, Rhydymwyn, Flint Town United, Halkyn United and Caerwys player has been named JD Cymru Leagues Manager of the Month for the north.

Johnny rejoined Holywell as a player in 2010 and became manager in 2011-12 when former boss Mike Thomas stepped down after winning the FAW Trophy.

Apart from a brief spell at the end of 2017-18, when he resigned only to return as manager early the following season, Johnny has spent the last 13 years unbroken at Halkyn Road.

Under Haseldin, Holywell have played 358 matches, winning 225, drawing 50 and losing 83.

Jake Cooke’s hat-trick goal in Saturday’s defeat of Guilsfield was the 1,000th scored under Johnny’s leadership.

This season has seen the Wellmen win their last 17 league matches in a row, placing them second in the tier 2 Cymru North behind undefeated Colwyn Bay.

They also reached the Welsh Cup quarter-finals, where they were unfortunate to exit via a controversial added-time penalty at Cymru Premier side Penybont.

During January, Town produced a perfect record of played 4, won 4.

They beat Porthmadog 4-0 and Gresford Athletic 2-0 at home, triumphed 2-1 at Guilsfield in the Welsh Cup and were 3-0 victors away to Llanidloes Town.
