RHYL AND DISTRICT SUNDAY LEAGUE REPORTS – SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 13

Royal Oak 4 Prestatyn Wanderers 3

Report: Lewis Prime

Oak edged a seven-goal thriller against a Wanderers side which had been showing good form.

The visitors took the lead in the sixth minute. Adam Wright beat his man on the wing and crossed to Kris Owen, who finished nicely.

Mark Dudley’s Oak team equalised and then took a 2-1 lead into half-time.

Jonny Mee won a penalty in the second half and converted it to level matters.

Oak showed good sharpness in the box to go 4-2 up. Their goals came from Colin Sargerson, Saeed Jones, Dardan Hoxha and there was also an OG.

An Oak player was then shown a straight red for a very dangerous knee-high slide tackle on Matty Robinson, who was fortunate not to sustain a bad injury.

Wanderers were not finished and Luke Bradshaw came off the bench and was fouled in the box.

Bradshaw stepped up for the penalty and nailed it into the side-netting, continuing his 100% spot-kick record in a Wanderers shirt making it 8/8 since the start of last season.

Wanderers could not find a late equaliser due to a solid Oak defence and some very good goalkeeping mopping up a lot of dangerous crosses.

Wanderers players voted Ellis Blench as the standout Royal player, and Oak players opted for Matty Robinson.

Conwy Comrades 5 Rhyl Rangers 0

Before kick-off an impeccable minute silence was observed from both sides.

Conwy kept their unbeaten record in the league with a convincing win against a resilient Rangers.

Chances fell at both ends before on 20 minutes, Joe Jones took the ball around the keeper for an easy tap in.

With five minutes of the first half left, a speedy ball into the Rangers box was met by a diving header from an away defender who found his own net.

Early in the second half, Comrades made it 3-0 through Dan Williams – a brilliant low finish into the bottom corner.

Comrades pressed for more goals but the Rangers keeper produced some unbelievable saves.

Eventually persistence paid off when Joe Jones doubled his goal tally with a calm side-footed finish.

A convincing display was sealed when the man-in-form Joe Jones completed his hat-trick when he latched onto a free kick, saw the keeper rushing off the line and chipped home for 5-0.

Comrades MoM: Scott Kearney.

FC Mally 10 Rhyl Celtics 1

Reigning quadruple holders Mally continued their goal-packed start to the campaign with a 10-1 demolition of Celtics.

Adam Hold (4), Benn Lundstram (3), John Evans, Kyle Robb and Morgan Roberts shared the home tally.

Leon Melling scored a consolation for Celtics.
