Hogan Gwynedd and Anglesey Summer Netball League – leaders Dolgellau pushed all the way, Bethesda lose unbeaten record

Dolgellau remain top of Division One, but they were given a great battle by Dyffryn

Some thrilling action in the Hogan Gwynedd and Anglesey Summer Netball League last week with Division One leaders Dolgellau only just squeezing out a victory, while in Division Two table-toppers Bethesda lost their unbeaten record.

Reports and results – Tuesday and Wednesday, August 16 and 17.

Division One

Pwllheli Panthers 17-24 Tim o Walis
(4-3; 9-8; 13-15; 17-24)

Despite training by a goal at half time, Walis rallied over the next two quarters to eventually record a fairly comfortable win.

Dolgellau 28-25 Dyffryn Ladies
(6-7; 15-11; 21-21; 28-25)

What a great battle from bottom side Dyffryn, who pushed leaders Dolgellau all the way before finally losing out in the last quarter.
Dyffryn edged the opener 7-6, but by half time Dolgellau were 15-11 in front.
However, Dyffryn took the third 10-6, making it all-square heading into the curtain-closer, which Dol had to work hard to win 7-4.

Menai Mavericks 23-36 Penygroes Primos
(5-9; 9-17; 17-27; 23-36)

Division Two

Bethesda 20-21 Llangefni
(5-6; 8-13; 13-18; 20-21)

What a game at the top of Division Two!
Llangefni led all the way against previously undefeated Bethesda, but it was mightily close in the end.
Cefni were 6-5, 13-8 and then 18-13 ahead before Pesda rallied to take the last 7-3, but the islanders held on.

Players and Umpires: Bethesda – Ceri Owen; Llangefni – Cerys Michael

Porthmadog 31-39 WaliC’s
(8-8; 17-18; 26-27; 31-39)

Another corker which was only decided in the last quarter.
After an 8-8 opener, WaliC’s took the second 10-9 and the third ended 9-9.
This meant WaliC’s were only one-up going into the final session, but the Caernarfon side won it 12-5 to give them a wider winning margin than they looked like getting for three-quarters of the game.

PoM
Players and Umpires: Porthmadog – Sarah Williams; WaliC’s – Mared Thomas
