JD CYMRU NORTH REPORTS AND TABLE – SATURDAY, AUGUST 13

Buckley Town 2 Ruthin Town 1

Substitute Jake Roberts’ fierce 78th minute finish sealed the win which ensured Buckley are now the only Cymru North side with a 100 percent record.

Visitors Ruthin took the lead on 41 minutes through Ethan Davies, but before the break the hosts were level, Max Moore with a left foot finish after Asa Hamilton worked wonders on the right of the box to turn and whip in a cross.

The decider saw a Buckley long throw into the penalty area not cleared and from a wide angle Roberts lashed in a beauty across the keeper.

And Roberts should have had another one before the end, but a fine victory for Dan Moore’s side kept them in pole position.

Cefn Druids 2 Holyhead Hotspur 0

Two first half goals proved enough for a well-earned Druids victory.

In very tough conditions for both sides as temperatures soared just above 30 degrees at The Rock, goals from Ross Weaver and a header from Phil Mooney put the Ancients in control at the break.

Druids pressed for further goals after the interval, but came across good defending from the visitors.

Conwy Borough 1 Llandudno 2

In a highly competitive derby packed with chances, Llandudno took the three points at Y Morfa.

Shaun Cavanagh blasted over from close range for the visitors before he took advantage of hesitancy in the Conwy defence to apply a cool finish and make it 1-0 in the 33rd minute.

Sam Jones added a second in the 84th minute with a rocket shot which went in off the post.

John Littlemore pulled one back for Boro deep into injury time with a sharp finish after his first effort was smothered.

Ashley Lavender produced some heroic blocks in the Conwy goal, showing lots of bravery, while on other occasions the Seasiders’ finishing was wayward.

Guilsfield 1 Prestatyn Town 3

Quite a surprise in Powys where new-look Prestatyn emerged as somewhat unexpected winners.

Jack Holden gave the Seasiders the ideal start by providing an 11th minute lead.

It remained 1-0 until the 62nd minute when Josh Astley equalised.

However, Town picked themselves up and were back in front when Jack Rimmer scored their second on 72 minutes.

And six minutes later Kurtis Pearson made it 3-1 for Chris Jones’ side.

Despite having Sean Coulton sent off late on, Town held on for the points, their cause being helped when Jake Cook missed an 88th minute penalty for Guils.

Penrhyncoch 0 Porthmadog 3

Report: Mr Treflyn Jones

Last season Porthmadog’s away record in Ardal North West was exemplary and they have started the current campaign in Cymru North in a similar vein with back-to-back victories on their travels.

Saturday’s success at Cae Baker was achieved in most testing of conditions with pitch-side temperatures measured at 32 celsius.

Early on, Penrhyncoch’s Geoff Kellaway sent in a dangerous shot which hit the underside of the bar and bounced out to safety.

Port responded by forcing two fine saves from home keeper Lewis James,

On the half-hour mark, the visitors earned their breakthrough with a wonderful goal. Callum Parry was clumsily brought down outside the box and up stepped the equally hard-working Rhys Alun to send a dipping drive into the top right-hand corner of the net from fully 25 yards.

After an hour, the game witnessed a very significant turning point when Rhys Alun sprinted clear on goal only to be brought down by Owain James, who was immediately red-carded. This seemed to give Port much confidence and belief and henceforth began to dominate proceedings.

A minute later, a well-floated high cross from Ifan Emlyn found Callum Parry, whose glorious looping header went well beyond the helpless James to make it 2-0.

Ben Fisher went close and Parry`s firm volley cannoned off the underside of the cross-bar before Port applied the icing on the cake.

Ifan Emlyn produced an unstoppable low drive into the corner of the net to make it three.
