Ardal North West: Ainsworth is a hat-trick hero as Bay hit a magnificent seven

It was another comprehensive victory for Trearddur Bay at home to Connah’s Quay Town, this time in the league.

Just a week after an 8-1 Welsh Cup victory over the same opposition, the Beach Boys were at it again, putting Town to the sword with a 7-0 win.

The majority of the opening 15 minutes were played in the Town half, although there was little in the way of clear-cut chances.

The deadlock was eventually broken in the 17th minute when a Town corner was cleared to Osian Hughes, who immediately looked forward and sent a long ball over the defence for Ashley Ainsworth to finish first time.

Just two minutes later, Bay doubled their advantage. Good work from Joe Todd saw him find Joe Williams on the right, and his cross was met by Ainsworth, who made no mistake to grab his second of the afternoon.

Sean McCaffery added a third before the half-hour mark, finishing smartly from a Todd assist, and Bay went into the break three goals to the good.

The second half was just two minutes old when Todd got on the scoresheet himself. A short corner on the right was delivered in and flicked on by Ainsworth, allowing Todd to steal in at the back post and head home from close range.

Bay continued to dominate and added a fifth just before the hour mark. A long throw was headed back out to the edge of the box, where Jay Gibbs met it with a superb volley that bounced over the keepers despairing dive.

Osian Hughes then got in on the act, bundling home a cross from Ainsworth despite protests from the Town players for offside.

And just three minutes later, Ainsworth completed his hat-trick. Sebastian Samuel showed great unselfishness to lay the ball off for Ainsworth, who calmly finished to round off another emphatic victory.

A comprehensive result for the Beach Boys, who once again demonstrated their attacking threat by taking their goal tally to 32 goals after only 6 games.

The three points see Bay return to the top of the league table and cap off another excellent week for the club.
