Morgan Murray surely has to come into contention for the JD Cymru North Player of the Month for March award.
Not only has the 23-year-old attacker netted four times in seven matches, he has also played a major role in the Lilywhites four victories over the month.
And there is his outstanding performance in 1879’s heroic 2-1 Welsh Cup loss to Caernarfon Town to consider,
On Friday night, the former Holywell Town man produced perhaps his best display yet in Rhyl’s 3-0 victory over Denbigh Town at the Hops and Barley Community Stadium – a result which further cemented Paul Moore’s team in the top five in their debut Tier 2 campaign.
Murray set the ball rolling with an absolute screamer from distance in the 13th minute in front of a 641 crowd at the Grange Road venue.
In the 23rd minute Dan Atkins, a great addition to the Lilywhites squad in January, doubled the home lead when he beat his man down the right and finished into the bottom corner.
Atkins missed a golden opportunity for a third home goal prior to half time.
Early in the second half, Atkins was through, but away keeper Ollie Farebrother did well to deny him.
Denbigh danger man Nathan Brown was thwarted by a good Alex Swindell stop before hitting another effort wide.
Then midway through the half, Rhyl went three-up with another great finish from the on-fire Murray.
James Farr could have made it four when a defensive mix-up let him through, but he blazed over.
Nonetheless, a great response from Rhyl to their midweek 6-1 defeat at Newtown.
Back-to-back wins for bottom side Ruthin kept their hopes of escaping the drop alive.
The Vale of Clwyd side had lost twice to Buckley previously this season, but revenge was exacted at the Memorial Playing Fields on Friday.
The goal that mattered came on 62 minutes from the ever-consistent Daniel Holland, who made it 10 for the season and three in his last three games.
