North Wales Division Two – nine straight wins for Bethesda, ton for Sprake, North claims five-for

Bethesda (15) 237-5 Ruthin (0) 114-10

It is now nine wins out of nine for Bethesda, who hold a 29-point lead at the Division Two pinnacle.

Saturday’s victory was another emphatic one as the Ogwen Valley flyers saw off visitors Ruthin by 123 runs at Parc Villa.

Put into bat, Pesda amassed 237-5 off their 40 overs, opener Richie Parry finishing 99 not out, while skipper Jonathan Williams made 37 and Richard Green 32. Parry and Green put on 77 for the first wicket.

Oliver Jones picked up 2-34 for the away side.

Dylan Hughes scooped 4-32 and Ashley Rowlands 3-17 as Ruthin were all out for 114, Joshua Duckworth best with 33 runs.

Carmel and District (2) 92-8 Northop 2nd XI (13) 93-5

Kevin Owen shone brightest with the ball, taking 3-12 off nine accurate overs, as Northop 2nds restricted hosts Carmel to a very obtainable total at Pen-y-Gelli.

The hosts could only muster 92-8 off 40 overs, Matthew Isgar top-scoring with 34 not out, after winning the toss and choosing to bat.

Owen’s 3-12 led the way for the away attack, Joe Griffiths with an also impressive and ultra-economical 2-11 off nine.

Northop 2nds reached a winning 93-5 off 29.3, wicket-keeper Henry Dowd heading the chart with 28, Connor Hughes with a fine 3-24 for the home team.

Clwb Criced Caernarfon (2) 163-7 Bersham (13) 164-4

Suresh Lakmal Koswaththage dazzled with bat and ball as he guided Bersham to a six-wicket triumph at Caernarfon.

The home side were invited to bat and delivered a respectable 163-7 off 40 overs, Grant Peisley 39, Monis Altaf 38 and Llyr Erddyn Davies 34 the leading scorers.

Koswaththage grabbed 3-25 and Amith Thilakarathne 2-32 for the visitors.

In reply, opener Koswaththage struck 60 and Maneesha Ayomal Nissanka 53 not out as Bersham reached 164-4 in 38.5 overs to seal a 13-2 success, Simon Davis pocketing 2-44 for the Cofis, who made a really good game of it.

Gresford 2nd XI (3) 164-8 St Asaph 2nd XI (12) 165-6

David North

Evergreen right-armer David North took a typically eye-catching 5-22 off nine overs as Saints seconds scooped the honours at Clappers Lane.

Inserted by the visitors, Gresford 2nd XI posted 164-8 with skipper George Morris (69) and Wes Evans (51) both producing great knocks.

North was the star bowler for Asaph, Elliot Goddard and Ryssell Moore with a wicket apiece.

Dominic Haynes struck 40, Gareth Jones 36 and that man North a vital 31 no as Saints made it to 165-6 in 33.1 for a 12-3 points decision. Matt Daulby nabbed 3-33 for the hosts.

Mochdre 2nd XI (0) 106-10 Menai Bridge 2nd XI (15) 223-7

Matt Bixby stood out in the batting while Liam Stone excelled with the ball as Menai Bridge 2nds celebrated a maximum points outcome at Swan Road.

Winning the toss and batting, the Anglesey side chalked up 223-7 from their 40 overs, Matt Bixby making 94 and fellow opener Sam Bixby 35, while Yousuf Burney notched 3-23 and James Gilman 2-36 for the hosts.

Stone then poached 5-39, skipper Ian Granger 3-22 and David Owen 2-24 as Mochdre were all back in the hutch for 106. Liam Bibby’s nine overs cost him just 11 runs.

Gareth Davies (45 not out) and Gilman (32) were the only pair to make an impact for the home team.

Mold 2nd XI (3) 178-8 Hawarden Park 2nd XI (12) 228-4

Opener Danny Sprake hit 115 not out in what ended up a comfortable win for Hawarden seconds at Chester Road.

Anthony Salisbury (38) and Michael Almond (36 no) also played their part in the visitors setting a formidable 228-4.

Mold seconds were then limited to 178-8 in their 40, George Jones 48 no and Luca Davies 39, Haseeb Hanif Bikya 3-39 and Nicholas Woods 2-22 for the winning side.
