All-rounder Holly Mayers begins her cricket season in some style!

Holly Mayers began the 2022 cricket season in fantastic form

The sporting term ‘all-rounder’ could have been invented for Holly Mayers.

A gifted cricketer and footballer, the 17-year-old made a stunning start to the bat and ball game season last weekend.

She made 82 not out and took 3-7 at Ashton-on-Mersey on Sunday in Hawarden Park Ladies’ first match of the season in Cheshire Women’s League Division Two.

Hawarden were Division Three champions last year and made a flying start to life at the higher level.

Opener Holly’s fine innings came off 121 balls and included nine fours. She shared in an opening stand of 104 with skipper Nicola Deane (36), then Laura Nicholls (22) and Rachel Warrenger (21) played their part in the North Walians setting 203-5 off 35 overs.

Holly then grabbed 3-7 off two overs as Ashton were restricted to 103-7, meaning the Park won by 100 runs – points 25-6.

Cricket is a family affair for the Mayers, as Holly’s sister Abby also plays for Hawarden Park.

Holly also represents Wales Under-18’s and the Buckley 2nd XI men’s team.

Same girl, different shirt! Holly in her Northop Hall football top

Football is another speciality for the teenager, who plays for Northop Hall Girls and Ladies FC, having netted 12 times for the team this season in the North Wales Women’s League.

She has recently been selected for the Welsh Colleges squad.

Holly is currently studying for her A Levels at Deeside Sixth and hopes to progress to either Manchester or Leeds University.

Good Golly, Miss Holly! 🎶🎵
