12 months on…would our all-time North Wales Women’s XI poll result change drastically?

Twelve months ago 30 female footballers varied in age were asked by GNW to choose their All-Time North Wales Women’s Football Dream Team.

From the selections, the 11 players with the most votes formed an overall North Wales Women’s Dream XI.

Here’s a look at the final team – 12 months on, would there be any changes?

GOALKEEPER

Nicky Davies and Bethan Thomas

Nicky is probably Wales’ finest-ever keeper with 64 caps to her credit and a glittering club career for the likes of Liverpool and Bangor City Girls.

Bethan has been outstanding in recent seasons for Northop Hall, where she has won the North Wales League title.

DEFENDERS

Erica Jones

The Queen of North Wales Dream Teams was crowned after attracting the highest number of selections.
Tremendous defender over the years for Pwllheli and Caernarfon Town.
Has just led Pwllheli through their debut season in the new Tier 2 Adran North league.
Dream team selections: 13

Sioned Bohana

Left-footed, rock solid defender who has achieved her best feats with Caernarfon Town.
Had a good first season for Pwllheli in the Tier 2 Adran North.
Dream team selections: 8

Kim Broadbent

Another calm, secure and experienced defender who has won a host of trophies with Caernarfon over the years.
Dream team selections: 8

Anest Hâf Roberts

What an achievement to make this team at the age of just 17 (she is now 19).
Rated highly by young and older players alike, the Bethel youngster is strong at the back and a danger going forward, especially from set-pieces/free kicks.
Her 2021-22 season has been unfortunately badly disrupted by injury.

MIDFIELDERS

Ffion Owen

Ffion has just won the Adran North championship in her first season with Llandudno.
The goal-scoring midfielder has lifted North Wales League titles with Caernarfon Town and Amlwch Town and landed a silver medal with Ynys Môn at the 2019 Inter-Island Games
Dream team selections: 12

Catrin Evans

Currently with Runcorn Sports Women in the Cheshire League.
Nineteen-year-old winger who burst onto the scene with Bethel in 2018-19 and won the North Wales League Division Two title with Amlwch Town the following season.
Scored for Ynys Môn in the 2019 Inter-Island Games final.
Dream team selections: 9

Kelsey Davies

Returned to Llandudno this season after a spell with Wem Town, but has struggled with injury and played just a small role in Tudno’s Adran North title success.
Super-quick right-winger and former Wales youth international who starred for Kinmel Bay before having a long and successful stint with Llandudno in the Welsh Premier.
Dream team selections: 9

Katie Davies

One of the greatest to emerge from the north without a doubt.
Defender or midfielder who won 20 caps for Wales and played club football for Liverpool as well as Bangor City Girls.
Dream team selections: 7

Anna Jones

Magnificent all-round midfielder, strong in the tackle and full of energy.
Now in her second season with Chester FC Women where she had made a big impression.
Won the North Wales League with Caernarfon Town in 2016-17 before going on to represent Llandudno in the Welsh Premier.

STRIKER

Mari Gibbard

Has had an amazing first season in the Adran North with Bethel, netting 16 goals and emerging as the league’s top assist-maker.
Chosen as a striker for this team, but can operate in any attacking position.
Devastating from set-pieces, she can score spectacular goals and is a tremendous header of the ball.
Had a season in the Welsh Premier with Llandudno, finishing up top scorer.
