My North Wales women’s football dream team: Claire Colville (Llandudno)

Llandudno defender Claire Colville is the latest to choose her All-Time North Wales Women’s Dream Team XI.

This is number five in what is proving to be a very popular series.

Abby Williams (Airbus), Gwenno Gibbard Bolton (Bethel), Lexi Crawley (Amlwch Town) and Cerys Gadd (Amlwch Town) have previously selected their XI’s.

Claire said: “I’m doing a past dream team as if I was to do a present dream team I would need more than 11 players….”

GOALKEEPER

Jess Hughes

Jess was part of the squad in the 2015/16 Welsh Cup Final and she had a really good game. Only keeper I know that loves to try and save everything with her feet 😉…

DEFENDERS

Jess Wall

Aptly named as she is a brick wall – a solid defender that always gives 100% and also not scared of a tackle or a header…

Charlotte Walker-Jones

A player that reads the game very well and also quality in the air.

Jemila Bukari

Jimmy is a player that every team should have, she has a heart of gold on and off the pitch. Jimmy learnt from the best (ME) 😉 No.. jokes aside, always gives 100% and she was also once up for Welsh Premier League Player of the Season! Awesome achievement Jimmy!

Gail Naylor Jones

Gail Naylor Jones (left – bright shirt)

Very fast and strong, and always read the game well. A true leader and inspirational player to have around. Lots of family connections with football, a player we all looked up to.

MIDFIELD

Sarah Fountain

A player that had good strength, quality and excellent at crossing the ball. Always gave 100%.

Ashleigh Hayes

Very good and strong player, good team spirit and also progressed up to higher level football. Has played for the likes of Stoke City and AFC Fylde, as well as Wrexham and Northop Hall. Quick and a consistent goalscorer.

Sarah Lawson

Awesome team leader, quality on the ball also steady and consistent. Went on to play for Blackburn Rovers Community Trust.

Rhiannon Mahoney

Very fast and skillful player, the ball sticks to her foot like glue.

STRIKERS

Sarah Colville

Only player I know that has scored 7 or 8 goals in a game and the referee turned round to our manager and asked to take her off to give the other team a chance. Due to a very nasty football injury Sarah’s football career was cut very short and that’s how she became a manager!.

Emma Fisher

A born goalscorer with a few tricks up her sleeve…
She played in the North Wales Women’s Recreational League for Llysfaen last season.
