Sunday football fixtures and preview

Bangor 1876 (red) will take on NFA in the North Wales Coast Cup semi-finals on Sunday

SUNDAY, APRIL 3 – PREVIEW AND FIXTURES

PREVIEW – NORTH WALES COAST FA WOMEN’S CUP

CPDM Bangor 1876 v NFA (1.30 pm – Plas Ffrancon, Bethesda)

Sunday will see the Bangor 1876 senior women’s team switch focus from league to NWCFA Women’s Challenge Cup action.

Looking to continue the momentum and build on last weekend’s excellent win over Holywell, 1876 will take on NFA in a semi-final match.

The team will be going all out to reach their first-ever final.

Speaking in the run up to the game, 1876 manager Aron Griffith had this to say: “We’re excited and looking forward to being in a semi-final game against a very much in form NFA side, so it should be an interesting match.

“We know how good a team NFA are; they’ve got strong, experienced and quality players all over that pitch. It’s going to be another tough match for us for sure, we expect nothing else and we’re ready for it and up for the challenge.

“We’ve played them twice in the league this season, won 6-2 away and lost 6-2 when they came over here. There has been plenty of stuff to work on in preparation for this match so hopefully it will hold us in good stead.

“I think all the girls (and coaches) are buzzing to be playing in a semi-final match and want to get all the way to the final if things go our way.

“It would be a superb accomplishment for the club and for this newly-formed team, made up of a blend of youth and experience. I think people tend to forget that this team only played together for the first time in a friendly against Denbigh back in late May 2021 and it’s still very much work in progress.

“All I’ll say is that we’ll be giving it everything, and I don’t want us to come off that pitch on Sunday having any regrets whatever the result.”
