Despite the Covid restrictions applying in North Wales football, the Rhyl and District Sunday League is set to restart on time this weekend.

Just three matches are scheduled.

Rhyl and District Sunday League fixtures – January 9

Conwy Comrades v Bar Bow
Millbank v Rhyl Wanderers
The Alex v FC Mally

Conwy Comrades v Bar Bow

This one is a bit of a six-pointer with both needing the win to keep them up among the leaders.
Comrades are fourth with 13 points from 8 games, while Bow lie a place below on 12 from 8.
Bow ended 2021 on a high with a 3-2 victory over Millbank, but the Comrades finished off on a real low with an 11-0 loss at leaders Royal Oak.
Sunday’s combatants last met on November 7 in the North Wales Coast Sunday Challenge Cup, Comrades beating Bow 5-3.
Comrades also won 5-2 at Bow in the league back in September, so the Rhyl visitors will be determined to avoid a third straight defeat to the Conwy outfit.
Much may depend on the quality of side the hosts can field.

Millbank v Rhyl Wanderers

While high-flyers Millbank will start favourites they are sure to remember two close contests they have previously had with Wanderers this season.
The Mill beat Wanderers 4-3 in the Premier Cup and were held 1-1 by the same opposition in the league.
Wanderers enjoyed their first win of the season last time out when they triumphed 7-5 at The Alex.
However, the Millbank will be determined to make a flying start to 2022 and show they are big players in the title race.

The Alex v FC Mally

The reverse fixture on the second weekend produced arguably the shock of the season so far when Alex won 5-2 at Mally.
That remains Alex’s only league victory of the season to date and they currently sit bottom of the table.
Mally will be anxious to turn the tables with a big win to revive their hopes of a title challenge.
