Strong first half display sets up NFA for a great win on Anglesey against Amlwch
NORTH WALES WOMEN’S FOOTBALL LEAGUE – SEPTEMBER 26
Amlwch Town 1 (Emma Roberts 54)
NFA 3 (Sade Benjamin 8, Amy Webster 17, Molly Brown 88)
A fine victory for Rhyl side NFA over a team which had won their opening two matches of the season.
NFA started the game well and their passing football created chances.
In the sixth minute a Rachel Lloyd corner was headed in at the far post by Sade Benjamin.
The visitors continued to play some fantastic football and this paid off when in the 16th minute Amy Webster slotted in a shot to make it 2-0 – and that’s how it stayed until half time.
NFA had to make a goalkeeping change at the start of the second half.
Amlwch came out a different team and earned a free kick just outside the NFA box.
The ball came in from Cerys Gadd and birthday girl Emma Roberts controlled before her shot found the net, despite keeper Courtney Ingram getting a good hand to it.
NFA regrouped and created chance after chance but some inspired goalkeeping from Amlwch keeper Ceri Pritchard kept the score at 2-1.
After a series of corners from Lloyd, Molly Brown headed the ball in at the far post in the 89th minute to clinch the points.
