Bodedern manager Ricky Williams insists on a feet firmly on the ground approach at Cae Ty Cristion

Bodedern Athletic manager Ricky Williams won’t get carried away by his team’s stunning start to the season.

The tier 4 side made it six straight league wins with a 4-2 success at Gwalchmai tonight.

And Boded have won 13 out of 14 matches in all competitions, their only loss being a 5-4 reverse to tier 2 Cymru North team Ruthin Town in the Welsh Cup.

Athletic are into the last 16 of the FAW Trophy and this evening’s triumph at Maes Meurig keeps them firmly in the top four of the North Wales Coast West League Premier Division.

Ricky was happy with the result, but not so impressed with the overall showing from his team.

“It wasn’t our best performance by far,” he said. “We were very sloppy, especially in the first 45 minutes.”

Indeed, had Gwalchmai not failed to convert a penalty early in the second half, the game might have seen a different outcome. Carl Jones produced a cracking save,

Ricky added: “I think Carl’s fine penalty save at 2-2 turned the game as we started to play from then on.
“It’s great to have a 100% record in the league, but it’s only 6 games played and there is a very long way to go.”

Goals are not a problem so far for Boded – and no wonder.

In Asa Thomas and Marc Evans they possess two of the best strikers on Anglesey. Both have scored 22 goals apiece in all competitions after tonight and there is the likes of Darren Lewthwaite also looking razor sharp.

The manager said: “It’s hard to keep them all happy but it’s a team game and they all have a part to play over the coming season.”
